stupid religious argument
i hate it when people say "oh there's just got to be a God, there has to be a higher force. There just has to be".
what kind of an explanation is this. |
i hate going to weddings in churches - it makes me very uncomfortable when everyone says things all at once together on secret cues I don't know. And how I feel so evil for not reciting the hymns, prayers, etc along with everyone else.
|
dawkins calls this the "argument from personal incredulity"
dawkins dawkins dawkins dawkins richard dawkins dawkins dawkins the god delusion richard dawkins |

THERE JUST HAS 2 BE A GOD I MEAN WHO CREATED US AND WHO CREATED THE EARTH?
there's just got to be, man. |
what's wrong with people having personal opinions?
|
I'm only bothered by intolerance and dogma.

yeah, so they have faith in a higher power, i don't see what the problem is here? was this person trying to harass you for not believing (i'm assuming you don't, please correct me if im wrong) or something else of the sort?
|
nevermind Floppy Nono, this isnt the thread for you
|
no no, what is the story behind this person saying this? it seemed to offend you,and i'd like to know the context.
|
well basically religious people have just been brought up to believe in it
anyone who accepts religion after being an atheist is just weak and needs comfort and a scape-goat imo i don't care though if someone believes in anything - doesn't bother me - but i just think religious people are just a bit backwards |
its not offensive, its just fucking dumb.
obviously, being non-religious, i am biased. you're going to base your life around it, because THERE JUST HAS TO BE SOMETHING OUT THERE? its completely irrational |

to be honest, the god delusion is a bit of a slog. the blind watchmaker is much better. it's not really about religion and that helps a lot.
and seriously, for the good of the board, don't feed the retard |

well that's part of keeping faith in something that might fail. i'm sure everyone who believes in a religion knows that there is a 50/50 chance that everything they believe in might turn out to be wrong but some people find safety or peace in believing in a better life after death or just need something to guide them in their current life. It's really not easy to say why you believe in a god, it's kind of like trying to explain why we love or why some people like things that others don't. I think it's just something that clicks in some peoples minds and doesn't in others.
I do agree that it can be frustrating to want facts or reasoning from the person but it's something that's impossible to prove. |

i'm fairly certain if there are only two possible outcomes you have a theoretically even chance of pulling each one.
