redbreegull 12-20-2020 04:06 PM

I'm not sure I even listened to 20 albums during this shitty year, but fetch the bolt cutters is definitely A+ material

Didn't listen to that many new albums, but my absolute favourite was Songs by Adrianne Lenker.

FoolofaTook 12-20-2020 09:03 PM

clearly you haven't heard the new boris album(s)

LaBelle 12-20-2020 09:48 PM

Here's my favorite 5 albums of 2020 in no particular order!

Beabadoobee - Fake It Flowers
Sad bedroom guitar girl doing 90s style alt rock is 100% my shit

Hayley Williams - Petals For Armor

This is a beautiful album and Hayley sounds so much more authentic and real when not having to do Paramore music.

Stand Atlantic - Pink Elephant

The solid pop punk album that 16 year old me desperately needed, but damn if i'm not still gonna enjoy it now.

PVRIS - Use Me
This band has been on my radar for a while, but this album is like they fully developed their sound and aesthetic.

Fever 333 - Wrong Generation
Kind of a modern day Rage Against the Machine in some regards, not everyone's cup of tea. But worth checking out in my imo.

Honorable Mentions:

Kero Kero Bonito - Time 'N' Place
actually came out a few years ago but I only discovered it this year, and it's a really good album people shouldn't sleep on.

WARGASM (UK)
They haven't put out an album yet, but their singles kick ass, they quickly became one of my go-to lockdown bands between their new music and streams.

That time Doja Cat did a rocked out version of Say So at the EMAs

I mean, it's like someone downloaded this video directly from my brain.

Ka - Descendants of Cain
Liturgy - Origin of the Alimonies

Hors concours:

The Body - I’ve Seen All I Need to See. A 2021 release that shipped early, this was the most exciting new record I heard this year

Alice 12-31-2020 02:03 PM

The new Black Wing record was kinda cool but I don’t know. I can’t seem to get into it as much as other people are

Ram27 12-31-2020 02:57 PM

FOLKLORE

punisher

JCC record

Alice 12-31-2020 03:05 PM

Maybe someday I’ll get to listen to that Mach Hommy record. I like his music a lot but I really find this whole $444 for a record business obnoxious
