JUST ME CHILLING AT THE CLUB uh these are some baguettes for an afternoon picnic that i made this morning following an overnight rise in the fridge

I discovered a tiny shithole-in-the-wall Vietnamese place near me a few months ago that makes Banh Mi that might single handedly make life worth living for me

i love bánh mì – for some reason it's never occurred to me to make them myself, though

for these baguettes i made sandwiches with butter, dijon mustard, maasdam cheese, champagne ham, tomatoes, pickles, cos lettuce, pepper and a tiny amount of mayonnaise. not exactly unconventional but, well, nobody complained

Banh mi's great but i only pretty much have them when in Philly. I never bothered finding a good place for them in MTL.

Man i love food.

I had some chinese food today that had a lamb dish that had tons of cumin in it and it was AMAZING and didnt taste like mexican food. Id never had chinese with cumin it. Well not good chinese atleast. The only other time i had some was this shit place a block away that hired a mexican staff. I ordered mongolian beef and it tasted like fajitas. Was good if it were intended to be such but it was awful. The lamb and cumin today though was out of this world good and a combo of flavors i never had before in chinese. Addicted 4 life.

To make banh mi you'd really only need to make the garnishes, the pickled daikon, racish, carrots and then just grill some marinated meat and top this shit off with some hoisin or bulldog sauce and bam. There are a ton of great places here in utahrd surprisingly. Quite pleased with the variety of cuisine here now tbh.

now im hungry. Again. I just had banana cream pie and some kratom though so i am a slug on the bed watching game of thrones rn.

There's a chinese place run by Indians around here that is really fucking good because they load everything with unusual (for Chinese I mean) spices

cultural appropriation is one of those phrases that gets thrown around too much

but still. french colonize vietnam. bring fantastic crusty bread. vietnamese integrate it into their own food culture.

It has valid uses, though.
