some ppl talk about suicide forest like it's this really disturbing thing. i watched and and was like "yeah, and?"

i dunno the idea of dying in the serenity of a forest is much less worse than other ways people kill themselves, but you rarely hear about that because it doesn't happen to align with common themes of horror and mystique

Idk, the idea of a large place where people go in large numbers with the sole purpose of committing suicide is very sad to me.

The sad thing about the suicide Forest isn't the forest itself. It's the fact that the culture of conformity in Japan is such that it drives people to this. Not unlike the way it leads people to alcoholism.

you're taking away the agency of the an individual being driven to suicide. many people who are suicidal don't know where to go to do it. the forest itself isn't a suicide forest, but rather its a giant forest conducive for suicide.

it's not a trend, or a tourist trap, as you make it seem.

the fact that bodies aren't often found until several years after they've expired is proof to this. it's a safe place.

I talk to my grandfather who was kind of an asshole but I realize he was just depressed. We were really close.

I honestly feel its better than writing a journal or diary entry that you know goes to no one. It's simply the idea that your will is to connect to that person.

i took his "conforming" as a reference to the intense cultural pressures driving people to suicide. failure to achieve, and such.

Like if he complained about body image or eating disorders and someone just posted "yea man magazines are shit they project a body image that is false to the real world" as if that solves anything even light years to anything at all being discussed or is even empathetic in the slightest regard.

it's just a giant turd coming out of someones ass looking to be swallowed.
