Unless I'm blind did the thread linking to a recent One and Two Youtube video covered by music news websites, and which contained the quote from the SP FB page get taken down?

Did something bad happen in there I missed? Please PM details.

On pretty much the only board left on the internet discussing the Smashing Pumpkins, with 300 active users, which contained no direct links to stolen material, threads are being DELETED? under threat of legal action from the band?

Then what is the point of even having this forum?

Probably my last post as I can barely listen to the old stuff now without thinking about what a tool Corgan is and coming here is like gathering to witness a car crash.

If we're gonna be censored as well, forget it.

Thread got deleted. I wouldn't expect it to fall under no linked unreleased material rules as it wasnt leaked directly on to here.

Why should Netphoria not discuss SP news covered elsewhere on the internet?

I guess the question is whether the thread was taken down by the thread starter (and vid uploader???) for fear of prosecution or by Mr. Pakula for breach of board guidelines or some other reason.

i guess nobody involved will say a word about this.

You really think James and D'arcy were even contacted about this, and it wasn't just a blanket statement from the band management and a way for Billy to distribute responsiblity for the reaction away from himself?

Billy issued that threat all on his own.

But I don't doubt that the rest of the band feels the same way.

Did anyone hear the X.Y.U. outtake before it was deleted? I just missed it.

They'd probably feel the same way but I doubt they care so much as to issue threats or even pursue it legally. They've distanced themselves from the band to a large extent.

James Iha would not bother prosecuting someone to the full extent of the law because someone shared old studio demos of his with like 100 fans who have nothing better to do

And by the way, do we have any idea where these tracks even came from? Like, it seems weird that they were mixed and put onto a CD without any intent of them being released

why don't people upload this stuff from a VPN or using TOR? That way it's completely anonymous (almost) and harder to trace... i'd leak that shit from brazil, taiwan, vancouver, and brussels

Legally there is nothing the band could do to this board, for members linking to public, non-affiliated Youtube videos, than it could music sites or reddit or anything else. There is no reason to delete the entire discussion. If someone had posted a link to that on a number of wider music forums, as they probably did, nobody would take down the links or nuke the threads.

As the poster said earlier, that's the death of netphoria. Fans aren't even allowed to talk about and give impressions on publically leaked material because Billy is throwing his lawyers around and threatening board hosts? If that is the case fans should be made aware of it and decide if they want to have anything more to do with this band.

it seems pakula was notified somehow and came on for a minute, deleted the 'offending' threads, and sped away in his rice burner or whatever. assume it was due to a 'violation' and he just doesn't care enough to fight it.

if anything does come out - NO DIRECT LINKS. and link to youtube/other sites at your own risk, i guess. *shrug*

I'm stil able to play the XYU video, which I posted on the Smashing Pumpkins Brasil page. All the other are unavailable/private now though. I downloaded them all in MP3, but Muzzle.
