My all time fave is gonna have to be moon&antarctica. Holy crap I love it, tho the lyrics and bleak musical landscapes occasionally make me feel really really bad in my heart

my first exposure to this band was unfortunately Float On, one of the most obnoxious songs ever to me.

Later I heard Moon and Antarctica which has some songs I really like, but I've never felt especially motivated to check out more by them

Y'know it's just 2 hard to pick b/w lonesome crowded and moon/antarc

The formers definitely the better guitar album, there's more jaw dropping lyrical flourishes, and the overall atmosphere is more intense/scrappy. It sounds like a band of self-taught outcasts jamming in a scuzzy outbuilding somewhere, screaming at the sky, which is basically everything I want from guitar bands

But as a longtime aficionado of weedmusic and psychpop, moon/antarc just GETS me there, man. Takes me right to them tiny cities made of ashes, y'know?

For as big as they are I feel like they're still underappreciated for just how good they were(/are?).

I don't really ever listen past Everywhere & His Nasty Parlor Tricks, but everything up to that is just incredible. Genius lyrics and vocals, outstanding rhythm section, crazy awesome guitar work that yeah, does feel self-taught in its ramshackle way. They can hit a certain melancholy feeling like no one else can. They have a truly unique voice.

Seriously since when did every song have to be a sea shanty? Good on Brock for making money but fuck this band. God bless 1999.

I've actually just recently gotten into them again after putting them on ice for the better part of the last decade and I must say that, yes, that shit still holds up.

My vote goes to Moon & Antarctica.

I dig, i dig. I haven't really digested Moon as a whole. But I'm always like Fuck Yeah when a song from that LP comes up on shuffle.

D., when you first said you'd been arrested i looked for your mugshot. took some brain wracking to remember where you lived, i remembered your last name no problem. alas, there were two people with your last name both arrested in feb. in a county in your state (unless it was you twice, like you got picked up at one place and transferred somewhere else?), and i couldn't find actual mugshots for either of you. it took a while, perhaps 10 minutes, for me to find it, but i decided to not to tell the board because ppl would be all like post it and it might embarrass you or whatever.
