one of my cult favorites, too bad antonia bird passed away not long ago

Bought the original LOTR trilogy (the extended edition versions) on Blu-Ray. Haven't watched the movies in a few years. Whoever remastered the movies did a fantastic job. Movies themselves aren't as good as I remembered them. Still enjoyable, though the Tolkien purist in me cringes at times.

B for all three. Many times better than any of the Hobbit movies.

Sonic Johnny 03-29-2015 05:40 PM

I caught twenty minutes of Two Towers on to a while ago, I was blown away by how crappy it looked! Haven't watched any of EM since ROTK was in cinemas. Guess that was a long time ago now.

smashingjj 03-29-2015 06:22 PM

taken 3. things get blown up. this is a movie for the tough guys.

MusicMan4 03-29-2015 06:32 PM

Furious 7 is the only good movie this year probably

MusicMan4 03-29-2015 06:33 PM

Oh wait I'm gonna see Avengers 2
Probably Trainwreck also even though I have no faith in J. Apatow anymorebut he didn't write it so that's a good sign

MusicMan4 03-29-2015 06:39 PM

Jesus they let Seth McFarlane make a Ted 2
I have to stop looking at these lists

MyOneAndOnly 03-29-2015 06:48 PM

Hang Em High

1968 with Clint Eastwood.

Not the best 60s Eastwood western. But a solid 3.5 out of 5

after a million ways to die in the west i thought they would lynch him

Order 66 03-29-2015 07:19 PM

ted was alright for what it was. i expected much worse

havent seen the western thing

Trotskilicious 03-29-2015 07:21 PM

i tore out my eyes

Sonic Johnny 03-29-2015 07:37 PM

Wasn't Liam Neeson in that? Dude got a bit of profile back after the first Taken and now he's just saying yes to everything. He's basically done a reverse McConaughey

Order 66 03-29-2015 07:40 PM

he found his niche as an action star. kind of weird since he's getting up there in age and those weren't really the roles he's been doing the last 20 years. but more power to him

he was supposed to be bond in goldeneye so full circle i guess

Sonic Johnny 03-29-2015 07:52 PM

wtf I cannot imagine him as a bond.

Order 66 03-29-2015 08:20 PM

eh 30 something neeson i could see it. brosnan was probs the better fit though

i thought daniel craig was kind of a weird choice but it worked okay.. i guess.. i don't really watch those movies either way

Trotskilicious 03-29-2015 08:25 PM

yes liam neeson was it it, so was charlize. neeson was seemingly cast as a reference to an old manatee joke on family guy abt neeson being unconvincing in a western.

all that needs to be said abt a million ways is that mcfarlane wanted to be in shane and pretend he was in a relationship with charlize

only funny stuff comes from giovanni ribisi and sara silverman

Trotskilicious 03-29-2015 08:25 PM

oh and make out with charlize, theres a lot of that

MusicMan4 03-29-2015 08:32 PM

if Ted 2 tanks hopefully his film career is over

i'm sure it's only happening because he's desperate to prove he's still a viable box office attraction after the Million Ways disaster

i think the stupid TV show is going to last forever but it's easier to ignore it's existence since ads aren't plastered everywhere

Sonic Johnny 03-29-2015 08:39 PM

I can't help but feel that he must be keeping his hands off whatever they're doing at American Dad cause it can actually be pretty funny.

Order 66 03-29-2015 08:44 PM

american dad is the shizz.. it was probably sent to tbs to die though.

MusicMan4 03-29-2015 08:51 PM

i think you both might be having aneurysms

Order 66 03-29-2015 08:54 PM

you seen it lately? its hilarious beside a few shitty episodes here and there

first season or three was pretty meh until it pretty much became The Roger Show

Trotskilicious 03-30-2015 12:36 AM

that guy doesnt even write family guy

The best thing these two have been in in the past ten year is this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Seraphim_Falls

Not the best western but as far as post 70's ones go, pretty good.

Neeson's reinvention a an action star is weird and he keeps making the exact same fucking films. They may as well remake the Death Wish series with him. You know they want to. Obviously what happened is when taken was a surprise hit his agent was probably like...look you're not gonna get another Schindler's List...this may be a thing to consider now.

The exploding boy 03-30-2015 02:28 AM

I watched Fail Safe earlier. Been meaning to for years. Great of course but a bit broad in its message but at the time that kind of film was needed. I like that the DOD an Air Force made the producers say at the end that with the systems they have in place a scenario such as this (nuclear strike by mistake) could never happen. Right....and yet it really very nearly did as we know now.

The exploding boy 03-31-2015 10:54 AM

Watched Gone Girl

Didn't know it was that ridiculous plot wise. I was expecting something more low key. I don't know what to think now. I suppose it's kinda hitchcockian. But ridiculous.
