She sounds like a keeper.

But just in case she isn't, make sure you keep her CDs.

Very nice. Thank you for sharing!

FlamingGlobes 06-03-2017 10:04 AM

I seriously love this type of shit. Any time I'm at someone's place and see they have a physical collection of music, I just have to inspect.

FlamingGlobes 06-03-2017 10:04 AM

But not judge. I never judge!

LaBelle 06-03-2017 10:07 AM

The burned Philips cd-r is messing with my OCD.
Also I spent way too long trying to figure out what the sort order was.

LaBelle 06-03-2017 10:09 AM

I only have a handful of physical CDs they are all in a box somewhere

Poots, post your collection or GTFO.

Fuck yeah, Yeah Yeah Yeahs and White Stripes are great.

I took two boxes of CDs that had been sitting in my closet since I moved to the record store to trade in yesterday. Got nearly $300 in store credit.

Who knew buying all of those nu-metal CDs 15+ years ago would prove to be such a worthy investment?

I still have four boxes in the closet, plus about 800 on display.

Eventually I would like to just have the stuff on display and ditch the boxed stuff, but some of it is in such rough condition that I doubt I'd get anything for it.

God damn right

myosis 06-03-2017 11:07 AM

you got 300$ for 2 boxes? is that like 1$ per CD? not bad

myosis 06-03-2017 11:08 AM

to be honest i haven't traded at a record store yet but i'm afraid to be offered peanuts

Yeah, not sure how many CDs were in there all told. There were also some old PS2 and Gamecube games as well. I was quite shocked. Didn't even expect a full $100.

I just make sure that what I'm trading is something I'm not going to miss, and then it doesn't sting when they give me peanuts.

Because really, it's not a great deal. But if you have a lot of crap and want some spare change, it's worth it.

The store credit is ideal because they give you less if you take cash. And now I can buy more crap to sell back in 15 years. :smoke:

FlamingGlobes 06-03-2017 11:15 AM

I just looked at it very plainly as "I moved into this apartment two years ago and haven't unboxed this stuff, nor do I think I will ever want to hear any of it again" and it was simple.

FlamingGlobes 06-03-2017 11:16 AM

I'm also kind of a "getting rid of stuff" junkie as of late.

FlamingGlobes 06-03-2017 11:17 AM

I might take the other four boxes someday even knowing that some of the scuffed stuff will be worth pennies at best.

teh b0lly!!1 06-03-2017 11:18 AM

even when i'm full "lets get rid of stuff" i never get rid of my cd's, man

if you sell it you'll get paid jack shit, and if you keep it it's just keeping a musical trail of where you used to be, and that's totally cool in my book.

I agree...to an extent. I still keep a pretty large collection that represents where I've been, but the rest of it is just...clutter. I plan on moving again someday when my finances straighten out and my dog is no longer with me, and it'll be easier to relocate without all of that stuff bogging me down.

I mean, we're talking thousands of CDs. That's a lot of clunky plastic.

The things you own end up owning you and such.

FlamingGlobes 06-03-2017 11:23 AM

I have a bookcase that reaches the ceiling full of music that I don't plan on parting with. I love looking and touching and just having a physical collection in general. The stuff in the closet was stuff I grew out of or just never clicked with. I used to spend a lot of my income just buying CDs back in the '90s/early '00s.
