would've been cool to see them play Brixton and Glastonbury

their last show was on 6/13 in Austria

inkless 03-10-2017 07:11 PM

they liked italy

Slurpee 03-10-2017 07:15 PM

They cancelled the tour because they broke up. They didn't reveal it for a bit, but they basically broke up in a parking lot in the middle of the tour and decided not to go on. I imagine that poor ticket sales also fueled this decision; I doubt they were selling out these shows, despite Billy still being relatively popular at the time.

Billy wanted to book the METRO in January 2001 for several weeks for final shows and do live recordings of it with new material for a last album. James and Melissa both didn't like his idea.

FoolofaTook 03-10-2017 08:58 PM

When you say last album you mean machina ii?

Was it then that someone from the band hacked Billy's mobile phone to do ill jokes with his girlfriend?

The last show was one of the best of the band though Billy looked bored at the "Rock am Ring" a few days before.

So many borders over which to smuggle heroin. So many ethnic restaurants to provide tables for handys to occur below. So many opportunities lost.

T&T 03-11-2017 12:37 PM

billy was an unbearable tyrant and everyone was sick of his shit. sales were down and the lobster dinner per diems were getting cut so everyone else said "fuck it i'm out, you're not paying me enough to suck your dirty std riddled dick". and that was the end of zwan.

Funbags 03-12-2017 02:48 AM

That show is so good too ^^^

Paz Lenchantin's brother Luciano passed away suddenly(wikipedia says suicide, but I am not sure if that is what happened). This is why the tour came to a halt. The inter-band turmoil is what led to it not starting up again.

Woah! Never heard of this

No wonder she needed all the hash oil and handies under the bar tables, to kill the sorrows related to watching her brother descend into the sadness

Makes bill seem even more like a dick, cmon have a heart man, people need their handies/hashish when shits sad

themadcaplaughs 03-13-2017 01:04 PM

I've heard this under-the-table hand job story for a while. Have we actually gotten confirmation on it. Even if we haven't I will continue to refer to it.

FoolofaTook 03-13-2017 01:27 PM

Hash and handies, hash and handies.

black francis must be reveling.

We have to continue talking about this, and how it made us feel, all the time. That's the only path to acceptance and, ultimately, healing

FoolofaTook 03-13-2017 02:08 PM

So, what's the story again?

Rider 03-13-2017 04:00 PM

How have you not heard the phone thing. For years it was about the only thing Billy ever said about the breakup. Taking drugs across the boarder, sleeping with the producers girlfriend, and taking my cellphone and sending messages to my girlfriend.

Pajo played bass early on anyways, they should've continued the tour with him on bass. Paz seemed like an unnecessary addition to the lineup and she probably caused all the drama.

FoolofaTook 03-13-2017 07:39 PM

nah dude bElli is a dick. that's why zwan sucked.

Corgan's Bluff 03-13-2017 08:34 PM

Paz Lenchantin on how she became member of ZWAN:

"A Perfect Circle did a tour with Smashing Pumpkins and then Billy Corgan thought I was good. I ran into him at a birthday party and said hello, and he was starting a new project with Matt Sweeney, the guitar player. I was very interested in Matt Sweeney — I loved his background and I think he's a music genius! He knows so much about music, and I thought, 'This is something I could do,' mainly because of Matt Sweeney. He is quite a musician and I knew there was something he could bring for me to further my love for music. I wanted to know more. I didn't want to be stuck in any way."

Paz Lenchantin about the death of her brother:

"My brother passed away a little while ago and it was a great shock to my family," she said, still tearing up a bit about the 2003 death of her brother Luciano. "So I couldn't stay around here and I went to Kentucky, and while I was there, just healing, you know, just playing the violin, I just thought I would learn to play fiddle. While I was there I was just recording myself, I didn't think too much about what I was doing. I wanted to continue playing music, but just not the bass at that moment. And then someone heard these tapes I had made, really liked them. A solo album came out, Songs for Luci [2006]. I sing too, but it's mainly violin, drums here and there. To tell you the truth, I didn't know what I was doing. I did whatever was natural to me. Never thinking no one was ever gonna hear it. I did it to keep my senses occupied and for my healing, to get on with that."

A newsblock from 19-July-2003:

According to her former band mate, Billy Howerdel of A Perfect Circle, bassist Paz Lenchantin has left Zwan and is working on a new project with Zwan guitarist Dave Pajo. "I just spoke to her a few days ago and apparently she's out of that band now," Howedel told Rock Sound.

The future for Zwan, who recently cancelled their scheduled European tour citing "Family Reasons" remains unclear at this point. More news as we get it. Meanwhile, Howerdel also said that former APC members Lenchantin and Troy Van Leeuwen may play with APC at some shows in the future but nothing was certain.

It appears the line-up for A Perfect Circle has changed once again. Former Smashing Pumpkins guitarist James Iha looks set to join the band.

According to Undercover's secret agent Double Oh Behave in Los Angeles, Iha, who has remained relatively low-key since the breakup of The Smashing Pumpkins became "suddenly available" just as A Perfect Circle were about to audition guitarists. Auditions that were to take place this week for APC have been cancelled.

The Smashing Pumpkins broke up in December 2000 and frontman Billy Corgan went on to form Zwan. For Zwan he pouched APC's bass player Paz Lechantin. A Perfect Circle were formed by Billy Howerdal, the former guitar tech for Smashing Pumpkins.

Former Smashing Pumpkins guitarist James Iha has joined A Perfect Circle. Although Iha didn't contribute to the band's new album, Thirteenth Step, he'll be onstage for the band's 12-date club tour, which begins July 26 in Denver.

Luciano Lenchantin (October 7, 1975 - September 13, 2003) was a musician. He was the brother of Paz Lenchantin, and Ana Lenchantin.

Personal Life
Luciano began playing the violin as a child, but disliked the instrument and instead began taking viola lessons. He later received piano lessons from his mother, who he said was "very strict." He and his sister Paz would write songs with each other and jam after school everyday, he on guitar, and she on bass. He went to an art school called Isomata or, Idyllwild School of Music and the Arts, in Idyllwild, but later decided that school was not for him. Paz's second solo album Songs For Luci is dedicated to him.

Musical Career
He was a guitarist and vocalist in Big Milk. The band released their self-titled and only album in 2001. He plays viola on A Perfect Circle's 2000 album Mer de Noms, on the track 3 Libras. The song also appears on their 2004 DVD/CD aMotion. He plays guitar on Paz's first solo album Yellow mY skYcaptain, which was released in 2000, on the track T.V. Snow.
Death
On September 13, 2003 Luciano died in Los Angeles, California, due to a suicide.

Big Milk
The band came together from noise sessions, a mutual love for Miles Davis and perhaps as a great big cosmic joke on a cranky neighbour (Bill, who makes a brief appearance between tracks).
Big Milk was the band of Luciano Lenchantin. In 2000, Paz left Big Milk and joined A Perfect Circle. As Paz's career with A Perfect Circle flourished, Big Milk began to open for the band in concert. In 2002, Paz left A Perfect Circle and joined Zwan, and Big Milk began opening for them.
The band met a tragic end in 2003 when Luciano passed away. All that remains is the self-titled/recorded/produced album released in 2001.

Seems like Luciano Lenchantin didn't die immediately after his suicide attempt...

Agreed. Billy probably only brought her on because of his delusional bullshit trying to replicate the Pumpkins lineup

so you're saying other band members would just randomly take his phone and text billy's girlfriend stuff? for some reason i thought maybe he and yelena split up right before or during zwan.

that seems like a relatively easy problem to solve, even back in early 2000's you could put a 4 digit passcode on your flip phone right?

I wonder if it's ever occurred to Billy that he shouldn't have been cheating on Yelana

If they would have been a harmonious band, Pajo could have made the job for the rest of the tour.
But I guess Pajo was the main reason Billy had enough of the band. So he took the opportunity to stop the whole thing...

The record company didn't want a second MACHINA album. The record sales from MACHINA were too disappointing.

But the farewell tour was very successfull. Billy wanted to make use of that positive vibe for a last, more successfull record from it.

Rairun 03-13-2017 10:51 PM

The cell phone story is true, but no one hacked it. Billy would rant a lot about an unnamed band member getting his blackberry and forwarding e-mail to his girlfriend.

Corgan's Bluff 03-25-2017 10:44 PM

Is this worth now $777.00?

I don't want to ask GeoF**kers for reasons...
