Any more news regarding this? I'm desperately hoping that guy was just trolling or something lol
|
who needs evidence when you know it's true in your heart
|
It is not true. It's just not. It can't be. It's not, right? DEAR GOD WON'T SOMEBODY SAY IT'S NOT TRUE???!!!!!

If Nickleback opens... The end is nigh
Actually, on second thought; the SP brand has sunk low enough now that such a happening could be entirely plausible. |
And the kicker would be people leaving after Nickleback finish playing..? I mean, they do have the more recent and sing-along-y hits.
|
on a third thought, the question is probably if Nickelback has sunken low enough - commercially - to even go anywhere near the Corgan-ship.
wiki tells me they still put out albums, but I have no idea if they are doing nearly as well as they did only 3 years ago. |
This could backfire on Billy. Damn it Billy, why didn't you make Adore a cyber-electro-rock album instead?! We could've been bigger than Radiohead!*
*Adore as it is, is also brilliant. |

yea same in Euro, they were disgustingly big.
but I looked at this one, 2014 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/No_Fixed_Address_(album) with chart positions between 3 and 50, that is still a whole lot better than Oceania, Monuments and Corgan solo did commercially. |

no idea. the double tour with Manson did still not sell out - and that at venues a bit smaller than on this tour.
maybe bringing Nickelback will take care of that. if they actually play on the August gigs I will be sad I don't get to see it after all. for the audience alone this should be interesting. |
Corgan & Kroeger
spooky |
Croegar?

I think Billly just gets a hard-on about the idea of the band with the most hits in the 00's opening up for his band in 2018. He probably feels it signifies what an important and big band The Smashing Pumpkins still are.
|
If this rumor is even true. I'd like to think Billy has more integrity then to go a route like that... Integrity aside, he has to know it would make him a laughing stock across the internet too... Certainly wouldn't do his tattered reputation any good. There's no winning unless he simply is that desperate to sell tickets.
I could imagine him trying to put a sensational spin on it though. Something along the lines of how 'both Smashing Pumpkins and Nickelback were incredibly popular bands that both got destroyed by the critics and how the pairing is a big middle finger to the establishment"... Everyone on Sad Machines would fawn over how "rebellious" it is lol |
