I'm on board.

redbreegull 01-23-2017 09:56 PM

lame title

ohnoitsbonnie 01-23-2017 09:57 PM

Title may be a spoiler?

LaBelle 01-23-2017 09:57 PM

In light of recent happenings on this here board, i'll take a less confrontational silly approach and just say I like the title.

buzzard 01-23-2017 10:01 PM

This movie has been wreaking havoc upon cinema-goers for weeks.

redbreegull 01-23-2017 10:05 PM

the force awakens was also a lame title but we already have a SW movie with Jedi in the title like come on something different plz

I don't think it is a spoiler, unless they mean a character who is not the obvious one.

MyOneAndOnly 01-24-2017 04:16 AM

redbreegull 01-24-2017 05:00 AM

I thought this movie was about wedge antilles

LaBelle 01-24-2017 08:39 AM

My read on it is that Luke is the last Jedi. Rey was strong with the force, but not a Jedi by the end of VII.
The "twist" could very well be that Luke trains her and dies and Rey becomes the titular last Jedi.

Unless they do some really weird left turn, that is.

LaBelle 01-24-2017 08:56 AM

Hopefully the film is not The Last Samurai, but Star Wars.

MyOneAndOnly 01-24-2017 11:32 AM

Star wars was copy of The Hidden Fortress. So anything is possible

FlamingGlobes 01-24-2017 11:32 AM

I'll no doubt watch this, but I don't feel terribly invested in any leftover story lines from The Force Awakens. In a perfect world, the series was put to bed after Return of the Jedi.

FlamingGlobes 01-24-2017 11:33 AM

Like seriously, three Star Wars in three years? Over-saturation is going to make me hate Star Wars by the time we're done with this.

LaBelle 01-24-2017 11:34 AM

The plan is to have one per year to the end of time.

Not saying I agree with that approach, mind you.

FlamingGlobes 01-24-2017 11:47 AM

Yeah, I just can't even with all of that. It's too much.

FlamingGlobes 01-24-2017 11:48 AM

Like, I'll still watch them when they come out, and I'll like them, but there is zero excitement from my end.

LaBelle 01-24-2017 11:50 AM

That was me before watching Force Awakens.
But I loved that film so damn much (despite it's shortcomings) that i'm excited to see what's next.

Who knows tho, if The Last Jedi is on the same level of Attack of the Clones or something (hopefully not) i'm probably not gonna go see them in the theater for much longer.

casual fucking fan

MyOneAndOnly 01-24-2017 01:27 PM

People like the new films, TV, books and comics.

the last two films have greatly increased the size and activity of the fan community around Star Wars. I've been active in at least following fan community activity since the late 70s starting with the original Fan Club which was operated through the mail with a newsletter. The expansion of fan communities over the past 3 years has been way beyond anything that existed in the 80s, 90s or early aughts.

The box office and critical success of Rogue One has continued to build the fan base. At this point there are 8 full length SW feature films and every single one of them has been a massive box office and financial success.

I doubt that anything shore of Lucas film putting out two really poorly received box office failures in a row would change that.

LaBelle 01-24-2017 01:47 PM

Jedi can be singular or plural too...

Yeah, that's all good and well. I'm just saying, I'm probably going to be sick to fucking death of Star Wars by the time we come through the other end of this era.

MyOneAndOnly 01-24-2017 10:42 PM

there is no end
