"Golden Era" SP songs you never liked

I'm making this 1988-2000, because otherwise someone's just going to copy and paste the track listing for Monuments. Which is a boring and predictable way to go. Besides I would Take 90% of SP songs 2007-2018 (many of which I genuinely love) over...

- Apathy's Last Kiss
- Methuselah
- Age Of Innocence
- Soot and Stars
- Do You Close Your Eyes When You Kiss Me
- Because You Are
- Home

Ihaguitar 10-19-2018 07:13 AM

Apathy's Last Kiss is a great song you dork.

VoxUpDoc 10-19-2018 07:23 AM

I'm on board with Soot and Stars and Because You Are.

The rest? nah, mate.

Tear and Shame.

HEAVY METAL MACHINE.

Razor Star 10-19-2018 07:29 AM

Tear is a bloody masterpiece!

I agree Heavy Metal Machine is hard to love.

PuzzledMuzzle 10-19-2018 07:29 AM

Tear is barely a 5/10 song

FoolofaTook 10-19-2018 07:31 AM

Home might be they're best.

Razor Star, use a fool!

The goddam guitar medley, which D'arcy coudn't prevent us to hear from Billy Corgan...

VoxUpDoc 10-19-2018 08:54 AM

I struggle with Bullet nowadays tbh. I skip it in all it’s forms. Overplayed.

Age of Innocence and Home? What kind of fucking monster are you?!

My list honesty begins and ends with because you are. I used to dislike the boy but that changed and I love it now.

Me too, in all honesty I don't think I ever liked the lyrics much. I recall buying the single when it was released and Said Sadly was the highlight.

What is actually the fuck wrong with you

Eulogy 10-19-2018 09:10 AM

Oh also there are lots of outtakes I’ve never heard. Bad fan alert

D. 10-19-2018 09:11 AM

My own list would be

Love (MCIS, not the pre-Gish demo)
Take Me Down
Because You Are
Soot and Stars
Untitled
Chewing Gum

and most of the covers they ever did

laradelocke 10-19-2018 09:12 AM

seems a lot of these are machina era tunes. not sure if most would refer to machina tunes as the golden era. machina 1 is in my top faves though. i farkin love it.should be more like inception to adore era tunes we're talking about.

WHEN DARCY was still around ya know ;)

if u ever need any, i can hook you up. i have all the ones released or leaked. i'm not big on different/alt versions so i may not have all that.

(i remember when Methuselah was a holy grail)

pavementtune 10-19-2018 09:16 AM

nevermind, I can't read! I read 1998-2000, not 1988. well then that list is a lot longer.

albums
Gish: Tristessa
SD: -
Pisces: -
MCIS: Love
TAFH: Cherry
Adore: -
Machina I: The Imploding Voice
Machina II: Glass, White Spyder

etc
Because You Are
Chewing Gum
Drain
Here I Am

that's an interesting question because adore was without jimmy, so a true golden era would be what 1991 to 1996?

i consider the golden era 1987 to 2000.

I was mostly joshin' around, but It is hard to figure out. Didn't Jimmy lay down a bunch of the tracks for Adore before his little mishap and BC just redid them all with digital/electronic (whatever you call em) tracks out of some never before seen sense of misdirected malice? :p

I would say its up to Adore, technically. Machina 1 did not further any momentum. I am amazed at the amount of people who have no idea that Machina 2 even exists.. I love that release, but nobody gaf about it apparently.

Ihaguitar 10-19-2018 09:26 AM

Yeah I don't see Machine as being particularly golden. Adore is up there, though.

FoolofaTook 10-19-2018 09:32 AM

87-00 is the time when the band called The Smashing Pumpkins existed.

Their Golden Era was MCIS.

Some of ya'll need to get your heads checked.

Razor Star 10-19-2018 09:35 AM

Maybe "Golden Era" was a misleading term. But y'all know what I meant. The first half.
