Us SP fans feel a close affinity for Wu-Tang as a group that peaked on their first album! Actually, they blew the doors off for the first one, then RZA pissed away all his good beats on the ODB and GZA albums... of course Meth's first was almost as successful as the 36 chambers, but very little RZA on that one (Tical). I saw them live and it was an event to behold... solo numbers from everyone but ODB (he was in jail) and then the whole clan came out for Protect ya neck and about 10 others.. Good stuff!

"pissed away"

um no he didn't piss away anything. Liquid Swords is possibly better than 36 Chambers. I think he did blow his wad but at least he got like 5 or 6 albums out of it instead of like, uh, three.

liquid swords, cuban linx, tical, return to the thirty six, even ghostface's record was hot.

nothing on those albums were pissed away. that part of their career i wouldn't have any other way

Liquid swords was indeed hot sh*t, BUT there were a couple throwaways, (see B.I.B.L.E. etc.) something that 36 Chambers certainly didn't have. NEVER got into Cuban Linx, even though everyone was slobbin Rae up and down for that one (the beats were admittedly insane). Tical took a while to grow on me, now it's indispensible(perfect snowboarding soundtrack), loved Ironman, loved Return to the 36.. I was forever waiting for the U-God album, but he got screwed by some mailed in crap by RZA and whoever produced that. I don't think anyone can even positively identify Masta Killa's voice on any track-- dude was so forgettable Cappadonna's record even came out first! And the RZA should have come out with something first before he did that Bobby Digital stuff that turned me off... I mean there were literally 3 songs out of 18 that were rewindable. I'm just saying... give us an album with the best of the best of those solos and you have an album that could really be called Wu-Tang Forever... when that came out, I knew the Wu had changed and that griminess was gone, although at the time I really liked it... I was listening to that and Mellon Collie concurrently... what a weird time in my life! Loved me some eclectic double album goodness. Makes me warm inside to think about those times!

a wu solo album compilation is an awesome idea

ChristHimself! 09-01-2007 10:42 AM

still just can't get into the wu apart from a handful of random tracks from here and there... was loving liquid swords a couple of months back though

Starchildren 09-01-2007 10:03 PM

Enter is a full album to me, beginning to end. i can't pick out a single track, they all blend together in awesomeness.

Schnobja 09-04-2007 06:16 PM

I won't pretend that I'm a huge Wu Tang fan but I do like 36 chambers a lot and I thought Fishscale was pretty gnarly.
