could we ever come up with a consensus on the best SP song?

i know its all subjective, but i feel like its one of the Siamese songs.
Soma?

Mayonaise?

Hummer?

those are just some of the ones that come to mind from that era.

porcelina is up there too i think

fuzzyroes 09-23-2019 08:17 PM

Yeah, it's gotta be from that era for sure, Id throw Geek USA in the mix too. These fans who think it's a track from Machina are insane

myosis 09-23-2019 08:47 PM

why yes we could

FoolofaTook 09-23-2019 09:21 PM

iotm

trev 09-23-2019 09:23 PM

ruby would be up there too i think, even though it's not sd era.

mayo and hummer stand out to me from the suggestions so far.

Modern90's 09-23-2019 09:26 PM

ruby is definitely up there

butthurt 09-23-2019 10:26 PM

spiteface tease

Shallowed 09-23-2019 10:31 PM

Yes.

It's Mayonaise.

Eulogy 09-23-2019 10:54 PM

Knee jerk answer is soma.

cork_soaker 09-23-2019 10:59 PM

real answer is by starlight

Ram27 09-24-2019 12:20 AM

spiteface [tease]

Ram27 09-24-2019 12:21 AM

but the answer is ruby, live spring 1996, with the extended outro

redbreegull 09-24-2019 12:41 AM

I would say Hummer Mayo and Soma are maybe the most cited as ultimate favs in my completely anecdotal self-reported experience as a fan

reprise85 09-24-2019 01:51 AM

hummer

inkless 09-24-2019 01:52 AM

tonight tonight classic rock love song

enthusaroo 09-24-2019 04:19 AM

in order

1.) Clones (We R)

2.) Landslide

3.) One and Two

bright_doom 09-24-2019 09:04 AM

I hate to jump on the Mayo, Hummer, Soma bandwagon but yeah, after 10 years of observing online fan communities in their natural habitat, those three songs get the most mentions/praise, as they should. But I'll throw in a few overlooked classics.
Tonight Tonight. (I know it's one of their biggest songs, but I rarely see it checked off in these fan lists. But it deserves to be up there with Ruby and Porcelina)

Also, For Martha & Home.

MyKeyZ 09-24-2019 10:00 AM

Starla or Porcelina

myosis 09-24-2019 10:29 AM

what about set the ray to jerry?

yes, because if you don't fall in the lowest common denominator or aren't stuck in the early 90s grunge/"punk" era you are insane

Stand Inside Your Love, This Time, & Age of Innocence are as good of answers to this question as any

behived 09-24-2019 11:16 AM

I don't think Netphorians can agree on anything...

paranoid 09-24-2019 12:43 PM

it's hummer. that song embodies everything all of the other favorite songs do.

FoolofaTook 09-24-2019 12:53 PM

I hear that Big Truck05 disagrees.

Ram27 09-24-2019 01:27 PM

Could hundreds of people with different tastes and personalities come to a unanimous agreement as to the best work by a group they all like that produced several good things for a period spanning about a decade?

Yeah, I don't see what's so unlikely about that.

Well we've already narrowed it down to at least 3-6 tracks in this thread. That's pretty good.

smashingjj 09-24-2019 05:08 PM

smells like teen spirit

smashingjj 09-24-2019 05:09 PM

we did do survivors per album years ago
like, voting away the lesser songs one by one until there was only one left

and then a survivor of the survivors I think

smashingjj 09-24-2019 05:09 PM

which was smells like teen spirit
