Post your favorite live performances of songs from 2007 to NOW

***RULES FOR THREAD*** You have to pick one song at a time, no posting full shows.

I love this performance. I sorta wish the newer tours were more in this vein... This video encapsulates everything I loved about following/attending the Zeitgiest tour... Changing set-lists, plenty of rotating surprises thrown in, extended off the cuff jam sessions.

This video has it all, and the chemistry of the band here is firing on all cylinders.

***EDIT*** I really like Jeff's improvisation to this track too.

fuzzyroes 08-23-2019 07:15 AM

For clarity, when I say "live performances of songs from 2007-2019" I only mean when the footage was recorded, not when the original recording of a song was released.

I just know sticklers like "funbags" and Paranoid will point out the lack of clarity as a reason for insult.

Wow, just look at that "MSN" logo on the bottom of the clip... Just goes to show how quick an internet media titan can fall in this day and age. That company hasn't crossed my mind in years.

Man, listening to Jimmy there^ he just crushes, a thing of beauty really. I'm listening on Bose headphones right now (maybe the first time that I've actually listened to the clip with good headphones) and it's an excellent performance. I'm thankful that he's back in the band.

And yeah, yeah, yeah, Funbags, I know I'm shit posting, but it's my thread, so deal with it.

you keep using this as an argument, but creating a thread doesn't make it your thread, and certainly does not mean that your rules apply

yeah they played 3 nights in a row at a (now torn down unfortunately) amazing sounding small-ish venue, only 2-3 thousand people size.

this was the only night they played somewhat damaged out of the 3.

Ram27 08-23-2019 11:18 PM

pomp and circumstance live is incredible

[story that doesn't matter: i got hired to work on the film crew for my uni's graduation ceremonies. i was supposed to graduate that year, but i was too busy being sad. i heard the orchestral P+C too many times. i saw h e r with her beautiful smile walk down the aisle and fuck me i wanted to die even more. even over com the director dude was like 'hey is that [girl]?' she's radiant. ]

jimbo's radiant too -->

reprise85 08-23-2019 11:52 PM

totally agree about pomp

underrated song

reprise85 08-23-2019 11:58 PM

in the spirit of youtube videos, some if this is nostalgia, but I remember on 05/22/2007 hearing this Gossamer clip and thinking SP was going to be amazing again

to be fair they were pretty good.

this video quality sucks and there's good versions of the show on archive.org i'm sure, but i'm reliving that night

Ram27 08-24-2019 02:41 PM

May get roasted for this one, but...

Saw this show - and only picked the performance from that particular show because it was one of the best looking/sounding ones I could find. But even though I wasn't a huge fan of Oceania - still am not - I had to applaud him for taking the album on the road and playing the whole damn thing every night. Wildflower wasn't ever a standout track for me, but it ended up being bar none the best song from that album that night. Seemed like the only song that night - XYU included - where Billy was putting real heart into what he was playing.

fuzzyroes 08-26-2019 11:57 PM

Wild Flower's always struck me as a poor mans Pomp and Circumstances

Def similar, I just prefer the emotion behind the lyrics of Wildflower more. Great live version of Pomp up there.

I think the problem with both songs is that by the time you get to the end of Zeit or Oceania, you're just fried. There are no lies left on the soul to be had.

amoergosum 08-27-2019 03:21 AM

I love the energy here:
