Any quality copies of 1993 SNL Cherub Rock performance out there?
 

I noticed that the only YouTube copy (which was terrible quality) is now gone because the person closed their account (why would you do that, person?).

I have a copy of it, but I think that it's worse than the YouTube version was due to low FPS and lo-fi sound. But its picture quality suggests to me that it was sourced from a higher quality video than the now-gone YouTube copy.

Does anybody have a higher quality version, though - of Cherub Rock or / and the rest of the SNL performance?

Could have sworn I had an MPEG of that from the good ol Kazaa/Limewire days... but I don't. Only have the Today, and it's a 33MB MPEG that's pretty shitty looking, albeit decent sounding.

I have the entire SNL episode its from. Not the best quality but better than what was out there before.

Was SP in any of the sketches?

SP was not in any of the sketched but a Siamese Dream poster was featured in the background of one.

I found a torrent of a VHS transfer of the SNL show. Can get it here:

The download contains two SNL episodes, and the SP performances of Cherub Rock and Today are in the first one. The video chapters don't line-up properly, but the Cherub Rock segment starts at 27:34 and Today starts at 1:11:10.

The quality is how it looks in AveryLoren's screenshots. It might be the source for the YouTube video that was available before, but looking a bit better because it's the source.

I'd like to separate the Cherub Rock and Today segments from the rest of the video, without degrading the quality of those segments. I don't know how, maybe I'll look into it. But if somebody else wants to do it, would be cool.

Maybe Billy has someone scouring SP sites and pages looking for shares involving copyright violations and taking them all down. He gave an Instagram answer recently to somebody asking where some content had disappeared to, in which he stated that all actions taken regarding SP IP are intentional.

Though, that particular upload says it was removed by the uploader.

Yup, lossless codecs like UTVideo and HuffYUV you see something like 30gigs per hour of footage. I usually keep the lossless for archive copy, and distribute x264 encodes for anything I do.

there's good mpg versions of both performances on soulseek. looks like they were taken from a comedy central rebroadcast.

That video is awesome. If only there were a better quality version available. More natural behind-the-scenes stuff like that would be cool to come across.
