I nabbed the CD a few months ago, myself. Good stuff. That Twin Peaks bug got everyone good.

Elphenor 11-18-2017 12:40 AM

I was just listening to klaus schulze

slunken 11-18-2017 08:45 PM

His records are real hit or miss for me.

slunken 12-15-2017 06:53 PM

last few i can remember:

stooges - fun house
pink floyd - piper at the gates of dawn
velvet underground - loaded
neil young - tonights the night

all reissues because i'm tired of looking for minty OG copies

soniclovenoize 12-15-2017 07:15 PM

Picked up for $2 each at Half-Price Books...

The Minders - Hooray For Tuesday
Wilco - A Ghost Is Born
Sonic Youth - Dirty

slunken 12-15-2017 08:01 PM

nice scores. my local HPB's don't sell anything for less than $5 even if it's garbage.

soniclovenoize 12-15-2017 09:50 PM

Really? These were all in the clearance sections.

slunken 12-17-2017 02:35 AM

Helped a friend hook up and troubleshoot her stereo and she gave me a black vinyl pressing of Siamese Dream.

Quote:

There were approximately 4000 copies pressed on black vinyl in 1993, 1995, 1997, and 2004 (1000 units pressed each time). All using the same original plates. There are no repress markers and no indicators in the dead wax indicating any difference.

So stoked.

smashingjj 12-17-2017 03:24 AM

Wow that's a nice gift. I didn't know so few were pressed

slunken 12-17-2017 03:40 AM

its in mint condition but it needs spin-washed for sure.

i also fell in love with a 3-legged cat named bernie.

teh b0lly!!1 12-19-2017 11:36 PM

did that friend realize she was giving you somewhat of a rarity, that could probably sell nicely?

regardless that's a beautiful gift + friendship.

That is amazing. My neighbours recently gave me a broken vinyl player, which I fixed. I tried listening to my uncle's Nirvana Unplugged record on it. Works like a charm. Sucks that I can't get any SP records though. They didn't even release Ogilala in India, except digitally. You cannot find any SP merch around here, not even online. :/

So stoked.

Is it a 180 gram vinyl, by any chance?

life's_a_drag 12-20-2017 09:42 PM

Recently picked up Fugazi's 13 songs, and I still can't get over how great Glueman sounds on even my cheap Sony speaker.

Fonzie 12-21-2017 03:43 AM

Stalker -Shadow Of The Sword.

Thrash/speed metal heaven.

i never knew this about siamese dream.

i thought the repressing on black vinyl only came about somewhere in the (late?) 2000s. i never heard about the caroline version on black vinyl before that.
the info about the black vinyl on spfc.org was only added after copies on black vinyl appeared in the 2000s. surely, if the lp existed on black vinyl before the pressing after 2000, they would have had info on it, no?

i didn't know it was rare either.

i doubt that info on discogs (quoted) is correct. where did they get that?

https://www.discogs.com/release/1845...-Dream/reviews
i think this person is probably correct:
Quote:

I actually think this pressing is much newer than 1993, unless it was in production for well over a decade. I purchased my copy brand new at a Best Buy in Columbus Ohio during a brief time in which they carried LP's. This had to have been sometime around 2011. This is just a guess, but I would say this pressing is no more than 4-8 years old.

The first thing I did notice is that this pressing is really clear, and sounds great.

I find it weird that it is listed without an exact release date since it was purchased from a large retail store.

My gut feeling is that Carol just decided to print up some black vinyl version when records started getting popular again. So it's likely the exact same record as those colored ones, but newly produced black vinyl.
i also believe caroline repressed copies on orange vinyl around the same time.

slunken 12-22-2017 08:10 PM

Apparently there is a way to decode the exact year of the pressing based on the slight positioning and hue of the barcode square but all that stuff is lost on me as I don't have multiple copies to compare.

Apparently my copy was purchased at an Urban Outfitters which coincides with the given timeline of mid-00's.

Regardless, I never knew about these mystery pressings either, but it may account for why so many people online claim to have sealed versions of SD (color unknown).

slunken 02-16-2018 11:59 PM

Sold some stuff and got these in trade:

Mals Marola 02-17-2018 03:16 AM

first vinyl purchased in about 2 years

slunken 02-17-2018 01:46 PM

Picked up an OG copy of Gish from the post today. Grabbed it from ebay for $30 possibly due to the seller not listing condition details. Messaged him personally. Near Mint. Better than I expected.

you name that album title as if everyone here knows exactly what band you're talking about

smashingjj 02-17-2018 02:30 PM

I got the one from 94 that says REMASTERED but I'm not sure it is actually remastered

slunken 02-17-2018 02:39 PM

If I recall, all they really did was bump up the bass a bit.

endless boogie - focus level

teh b0lly!!1 02-25-2018 03:54 AM

those guys are cool. i stumbled across Vibe Killer a while ago and liked it. it's the most unexpected music even though it's basically one chord songs

slunken 02-25-2018 10:59 AM

I think Vibe Killer might be my favorite. Really laid back compared to the other records. Back in '74 is such a good song.
