Grabbed Noise from the library the other day, don't know how far they've gone from Akuma but I was surprised the lib had anything from Boris - gonna put it on in a few minutes :stan:
|
people still borrow cd's from libraries?
|
Yeah
CD's are the only thing that play in my car currently |
& tbh i'm more inclined to actually listen to something if it's actually sitting there staring at me, so to speak, rather than the accumulated pile of albums I have on my Spotify saved library rn
|
Fair enough
I buy cd's still but the last time i went to a library for music must have been in 2000 Come to think of it, that's how i first heard Pisces Iscariot |
I don't specifically go there for it, it's more a case of me being there to use the Wi-Fi or going in with someone else and not being able to resist the temptation of looking at the huge aisle of music & movies, then inevitably finding something I didn't expect to see there & leaving with it
I have a bad habit of renting way more than I actually listen to/watch tho. Thank god it's all free |
Tapes and LPs only come on
|
Its like a damn crime that Heavy Rocks isn't on vinyl
|
Graveflower!!!!!
|
Tapes are great for recording & all but unless it's some vaporwave/boards of canada type shit I ain't going to those for pure listening
My CD-purchasing has gone down pretty considerably over the past couple of years, almost strictly relegated to replacing copies of albums that were destroyed in the flood that happened two years ago, a "ceremonious" tradition type thing for new albums I was anticipating (provided i don't just get it on vinyl the day of release) or in support of bands I saw on tour/played with, etc. Still though, I'm never not gonna appreciate the extended artwork/liner notes/etc of a physical release over streaming 24/7, & CD's are usually about a tenth the price of LP's, even if one has a more obvious surface value or whatev |

a hundred of those posts were of me freaking out for that concert. then i went and ate too many thc chocolates and freaked out and froze there millimeters away from takeshi. sigh.
|
rehearsal with michio kurihara  |
Sunn O))) & Boris + Endon with Merzbow with Michio Kurihara
|
are you trolling me??
|
no i just wanted to try and fit like every major collab with the appropriate word/character they use for it to amuse myself
& + with |
why would i troll
boris is like my favorite band too you know this |
Ah, ok. I got ridiculously excited there for a moment. Heh.
I really hope they record something with Michio. My two favorite albums (Rainbow & Praparat) come from the Kurihara-san era. What are you favorite Boris albums/styles? |
Everybody trolls me. A child could troll me. Plus, I deserve it since I am a dumbass. Also I am a little paranoid these days. Sorry.
|
I love all their styles and cannot pick one
|
MY favorite albums are Amplifier Worship, Heavy Rocks, Flood, Feedbacker, Pink, Vein (hardcore), Smile (JP mix), New Album, and Noise
Praparat is one of the few things they've done that never grabbed me |

vein??? maybe i should give it another listen.
happy to see love for new album. spoon is my favorite wata-at-the-helm song. and luna was my introduction to blackgaze. |
the version of Luna on Chapter Ahead Being Fake is so much better tho
|
RE Surrender, it's the best song on the New Noise Literacy series, but I love all 3 discs because Boris are masters at everything including harsh noise even without Masami's assistance
but that song it's just...it's just something |

No no no, Luna on New Album is waaay better than Chapter Ahead.
Question: do you listen to stuff like New Noise Literacy sober? Most of that stuff is Thing Which Solomon-esque for me ie must be massively fucked up to appreciate. I will listen to Vein again. Been meaning to. |
|
I'm drunk now because I want to speed up my terminal illness, but I love all that stuff sober. And drunk or high!
but Boris is just fucking good. Keep in mind I love harsh noise/drone/power electronics in general besides Boris' versions of the genres. but yeah I've tried the New Album version and the Torche split versions and the split version just is insane. It's like the only blakgaze song that is both as dreamy as any shoegaze song and as brutal as any pure black metal song, imo obv. and re: Praparat. I think I have a bad rip. The version I've listened to always sounds kind of muted, do you have a real HQ rip you can upload or should I try my luck at various rips on slsk? |
