I can technically but have this disorder where i can only read like 10 words of anything anyone but me writes. It makes it a lot easier to have arguments with people because i skim over most of their "points" and "opinions" to get back to my own which are both right and actually important. I don't think most people can read that well either cause they keep telling me i write too much and/or to shut up presumably cause it asks too much effort for them to read (the truth especially). Check it out.

I'm reading the ghostway by tony hillerman.

mxzombie 05-18-2014 11:38 AM

i just finished the handmaid's tale, which was good. player piano before that. i'm about to begin reading down and out in paris and london. i like to read but i usually only do it while i commute, hardly ever at home or anywhere else.

Trotskilicious 05-18-2014 01:14 PM

Trotskilicious 05-18-2014 01:24 PM

Limiting our posts to ten words still makes better arguments

tony hillerman was recommended to me but i haven't picked up anything by him yet. mainly because i haven't allowed myself to buy any books for 2014 since i have 750+ unread in the basement right now.

it's one of his last major works i have left to read, including many of his essays, which are excellent. i read burmese days last year, which was good but among my least favorites so far. i'm particularly fond of homage to catalonia and coming up for air though. haven't read keep the aspidistra flying or road to wigan pier.

Holy shit. Well... check out hillerman too. I don't think you'll be disappointed. Robert Redford directed a few movies based on these books which aired on PBS. http://www.amazon.com/Hillerman-Coll...s=Coyote+waits

Coyote waits is a good one to start with, or the ghostway.

Starla 05-19-2014 01:29 AM

handmaid's tale is one of my most favorites.... too bad the movie sucked

that's pretty much all the best right there with Player piano like someone suggested. I would also suggest Welcome to the Monkey House, it's short stories. Varying quality but some are pretty good.

reprise85 05-19-2014 06:03 PM

i've been reading A Universe from Nothing (recommended by Luke de Spa)

it's interesting but i've been so busy with class that i'm getting behind and it's like a week overdue at the library.

I have one paper to finish for school and then I'm reading this. Has anyone read it? I'm pretty excited about it for some reason.
