My Bloody Valentine, Sigur Ros & Mogwai

If you genuinely enjoy these bands (&SP of course) what else would you recommend? Ambient/shoegaze/dreampop/postrock/etc...

buzzard 03-28-2017 09:23 AM

I imagine there are a lot of bands that could generally fit the bill, but I'll go with Destroyalldreamers and Mooncake.

FoolofaTook 03-28-2017 09:31 AM

Yes there should be a shoegaze thread. i need to explore more shoegaze.

bright_doom 03-28-2017 10:09 AM

I know I'm probably in the minority here, but i really loved the Blissed & Gone drone version from the Adore Box set, then followed by the fantastic Heaven instrumental.

duovamp 03-28-2017 10:13 AM

If you're into chill jams, maybe see if you have a taste for Tycho.

bright_doom 03-28-2017 10:32 AM

What I'm looking for, is something that is similar to the final Minute of RHCPs Slow Cheetah.

(starting at 4:10)

Something that sounds like the ambient, psychedelic, folky, "lonely", staring into the sky, offspring of Stumbleine & Mellon collie nighttime version(very end of TTEOR). Impossible, I know...

myosis 03-28-2017 03:43 PM

check out Polmo Polpo

Don't worry, I haven't forgotten about this thread I created at 1am in a not so sober condition. But thanks to you and the other suggestions. I'm going to listen to all of it tonight, also in a not so sober condition.

Trotskilicious 03-31-2017 07:21 PM

big guitars are great when fucked up tbh, also good on acid from what i've been told

bright_doom 03-31-2017 11:40 PM

Here are a couple of songs if you interested in a more relaxing/transcendent yet uplifting vibe

If you like this kind genre I'd also recommend the Mysterious Skin film score Soundtrack. Robin Guthrie & Harold Budd.

bright_doom 03-31-2017 11:57 PM

The actual soundtrack for Mysterious Skin is pretty fucking great as well.

I'm doing this from my phone so I don't know if there are better quality versions of any of these songs on youtube.

I've had San Pedro stuck in my head all day, even before I read your post.

I don't want to turn this into a Mogwai appreciation thread but I'm listening to Hardcore Will Never Die right now and, well, I really appreciate them

and

And now this is going to pale in comparison but, here's a bit of dream pop/shoegaze

Check out this band Deafcult, specifically the song Safety Matches.
