my thoughts exactly. it amazes me sometimes at how many grown-ups around here act like the biggest fucking crybabies over pretty irrelevant things, like a pumpkins reunion.
seriously though, get over it people. 4 years ago, you'd all be flipping out just over a tour with james and jimmy, but all of a sudden you're deluded that a "real", full pumpkins reunion is the only way to go. like it's gonna somehow recreate the band that existed 25 years ago. nobody really cares anymore, except a small bunch of about 50 people who regularly visit netphoria (and I'm not counting the people on facebook, they'd eat a pile of billy's shit if they had the opportunity), it's not as relevant as you perceive it to be.

Actually the whole fun part is just how irrelevant it is! I can't afford A-lister tickets anyway!

Most casual fans would recognise the Pumpkins as "the bald guy", "the Japanese guy", and "the girl on bass". I doubt any would recognise the drummer.

Once you've got that then you've got what the public consider "(the) Smashing Pumpkins". If "the girl on bass" is someone else (even a different girl), I'm not sure the public would really care. It's like do casual fans know that it's not Kim Deal with the Pixies? It's still a girl right?

What'll happen is HYPE. It'll be hyped by promoters as a "reunion" tour, and that's what'll sell the tickets. A few good early reviews, playing all the hits, some nice t-shirts on sale, job done.

IF D'arcy does come back, it'll appease the fans but at the same time if she is unrecognisable (pink hair, big lips) then it might as well be a different "girl on bass".

To further reduce that, most casual fans I know just know of Billy and "the girl on bass". Actually a lot of people know her name is D'Arcy. Considering the drama recently that's actually kind of sad.
