Booze makes you sleepy

Thanks globes, I was feeling pretty down in the dumps about half a year ago, and it's surprising how much a good chunk of unexpected money can lift ones spirits.

I sincerely hope you don't plan on drinking all of your winnings.

redbreegull 03-20-2017 08:54 PM

there was a study done within the last few years that found that money does make people happy, but only up until a certain point around making 60k a year. after that, there is no correlation between money earned and happiness. seems like the lesson might be that it sucks to struggle and once you have enough money that you know you won't just lose the roof over your head or not be able to eat, money can't make you any happier

the study also found that spending money on material things has no correlation with happiness, but spending money on experiences does make people happy

Hell no, I'm going traveling in a few months and saving up and gonna fund a new music project.

The key to not being a miserable jack-ass is to have things that you're looking forward to.

Will we get a travel log Billy Corgan style out of your journeys?

of course man. Spending money on expensive cars, designer clothes, jewelry ETC is a fools errand. It's all about traveling and doing the things you enjoy.

For me I'm a collector, so that is important as well, but it's just something on the side. Buying a lot of cool shit alone would be unfulfilling. It's when the objects you buy represent a time and story that they become special.

"buying material objects does not make you happy"

"yeah you gotta spend money on experiences, like collecting material objects"

Probably never, but don't worry, I am gonna share a few choice photos and remnants of the best part of the trip here with you all... whether y'all like it or not

FoolofaTook 03-20-2017 09:15 PM

Fuck it and drink it all up. You know you want to.

nawh man, you're mistaking what I meant. I mean if you're having an awesome time out traveling somewhere with your friends and you happen to invest in a valuable collectible from the region you're at it becomes a 2-fold memory.

FoolofaTook 03-20-2017 09:16 PM

Bitches and booze, lord fuzzrod, bitches and booze.

FoolofaTook 03-20-2017 09:18 PM

Are you coming to Walla Walla? Will you buy me weed?

You're probably the biggest traveler on this whole forum. You're telling me you don't enjoy picking up souvenirs and collecting things that are unique to the regions you travel?

if not, you're missing out.

Slunken was one of the few guys here who instantly related with being a pack-rat... But our cases our to the extreme.

redbreegull 03-20-2017 09:19 PM

not in my experience. I don't like buying souvenirs, they are stupid to me. Photos are better than anything else. Or something special you didn't pay for, e.g. I still have a string bracelet on my left wrist a monk tied there 2 years ago as part of a blessing. I think it's you who is missing the point if you feel compelled to mark an experience by buying a physical object

one of the most annoying things about traveling is that people expect you to bring them mementos

other than airfare, my biggest expenditure while traveling was drugs and booze

If you journey out near Seattle I could probably meet you half way, Cause I am planning on heading out there around late April/May... And yes, I would pay for some epic partying

Gonna see a couple Mariners games and one of the AAA minor league games.

Yeah I hear ya. Souvenirs are kinda stupid. I only really collect the things that appeal to me artistically or nostalgically. I've never understood the jack-assses who collect souvenirs just for the sake of doing it.
