Oh man, the chorus. So good.

McCollum 04-16-2008 03:15 AM

Not to bad.

Bring back Matt Sharp.

Gish08 04-16-2008 06:53 AM

Weezer's first two albums are the only ones that are good.

They've sucked for a long time now.

mellon_c0llie 04-16-2008 08:47 AM

man.... this is really good.

so much texture.

Schnobja 04-16-2008 09:23 AM

Nice.

Thanks for sharing bro.

I dig that track a lot. I was hoping for a slightly more elaborate bridge but what can you do?

New Art Rioter 04-16-2008 11:51 AM

Digging this a lot. More material like this could easily get Weezer back in my good books

sppunk 04-16-2008 12:24 PM

"Timberland knows how the way to reach the top of the chart / maybe if I work with him I can perfect the art."

OK, Rivers.

Corganist 04-16-2008 12:39 PM

Yeah, I'm digging it too, though I guess that's to be expected. I give post-2000 Weezer a lot more benefit of the doubt than most people.

I'm looking forward to the Red Album, though I don't know if we should expect this song to be a good reflection of the other tracks. After the initial rounds of recording, Geffen execs basically told the band that they needed to go back into the studio and record a hit single. So in satisfaction of and reaction to that demand, they recorded Pork and Beans. The rest of the album is supposedly more "experimental" and apparently less radio-friendly.

I read this too but I got the impression it was done solely in mockery of the record company, not to satisfy their request.

commando 04-16-2008 01:40 PM

i heard there was going to be another song, tyrannosaurus, to be the lead single.

i like everything they've done pre-make believe. except for this is such a pity i fucking hated their last album. all the ones before it (including the unreleased albums and songs) i love. i've gotten really excited for this new album. the two other clips of songs i've heard make me excited too. Everybody Get Dangerous (in the movie 21) and the remix of Automatic from Gran Turismo 5 trailer.

Bobbin TB 04-16-2008 05:02 PM

dammit. file was removed.

Wow Blue album rehash much?

Saying this was good would be the equivalent of likening Zeitgeist to MCIS.

Rivers already said that

Fresh off his recent solo release, frontman Rivers Cuomo reports that "the album is meaty, crunchy and melodic like a good Weezer album should be,"

TheDeuce 04-16-2008 10:29 PM

it's now streaming on the revamped official site.

skipgo 04-17-2008 12:01 PM

how anyone can hate on weezer is a mystery to me.

pale blue eyes 04-17-2008 12:08 PM

I would love to agree with most of you and say this song is awesome and sounds like something from when they did not suck but to me it just sounds slightly better than the crap they have put out on their last three albums. I listened to the song streaming about six times and it just does nothing for me.

neopryn 04-17-2008 12:33 PM

this is fucking awful

agreed. sorry skipgo.

skipgo 04-17-2008 02:16 PM

it's okay davin. I said that before listening to the song. it is a little 'meh'. *shrug*

commando 04-17-2008 02:55 PM

It is ahead of anything on Make Believe, which was too "hi, I'm Rivers, and I'm sorry for being an asshole the past 10 years. here's some flowers" for me.

waltermcphilp 04-17-2008 02:59 PM

i wasn't thrilled by 'make believe' but i thought it was better than maldorat. or whatever it was called.

that a link to Automatic (La Riots Remix), another song that's going to be on the album. that's Pat (the drummer) singing. this is ripped from Gran Turismo 5.

Sounds nice. Although I thought Make Believe and The Green album were average at best par a couple of songs, I thought Maladroit was great. Very guitar-ridden, had a nice band feel to it.

I shall give The Red Album a go once it hits the torrent sites.

Now, another spin for Pork & Beans

analogtones 04-18-2008 08:31 AM

Pinkerton is one of my favorite albums of all time. Looking forward to this release.

i'm not a fan
but it's rooted in 14yr old highschool rivalries.
weezer kids were not friends with pumpkin kids. no one was an exception.
still today i can't get into them.

i'd have a lot more respect if they named Pinkerton "the pink album" and stood in front of a pink background.
and just stuck to doing "color" albums forever.

Mr. Mister 04-18-2008 05:39 PM

My expectations for 'da Weez have decreased with each successive release since the blue album. Luckily, Pinkerton turned out to be one of those albums that takes time/maturity to "get". Unfortunately, that is not the case with Green, Maladroit, that live CD and Make Believe. Don't get me wrong, their songs remain pretty good/catchy musically. P&B has a good riff and solid power-pop chorus...but the lyrics...F-. I really hope the remainder of the album impresses me, but like Zeitshite, I'm thinking we're gonna have some decent music with some cringeworthy lyrics. Then again, Haunt You Every Day was their best track since Pinkerton. Then again, each band member is writing and singing a couple tracks on the album. Then again, no one really cares what I think or say. Bottom line: I'll still see them in concert for the 6th time if they visit my city, even if the Red Album sux.

ouch! i have last.fm on the computer downstairs. i live with my parents now and one of my little sisters was probably listening to it on there. i should uninstall it since i'm never down there anymore. but still, ouch.

Boycott Graceland 04-19-2008 01:18 AM

rivers doesn't seem to have an authentic or sincere bone left in his body. it makes me sad that people are still hanging on and apologizing for the shit he's come up with since 2000, hoping for another pinkerton. the dude views songwriting and recording as a job and not things that he actually enjoys doing very much.

Sylvia Woods 04-19-2008 03:58 AM

Somebody's giving me a whole lot of money to do what I think I want to do

Revenant 04-19-2008 11:38 AM

Alot of indie fags hate this song too. It doesn't surprise me. Not enough elaborate instrumentation and wankerery I guess.

ravenguy2000 04-19-2008 12:05 PM

revenant calling it like it is, man
