For what it's worth, 7/10 still means I liked it. I just wish he had cast someone else as the lead, because he really sucks and is probably the exact same person as that character in private.

FlamingGlobes 03-09-2018 06:40 PM

Then again, I'm the only person on this board who didn't love Mother!, so take my opinion with a grain of salt.

buzzard 03-09-2018 06:46 PM

It just sounds to me like it's bothered you that he absolutely nailed the character.

buzzard 03-09-2018 06:48 PM

Check out his merchandise site if you're not sure whether it's all self-aware.

You're probably right, but then maybe it was a character whose story wasn't worth telling? I dunno. I liked it enough, just didn't love it.

I've read about this but will have a look for myself.

i always thought Buffalo 66 was the one and only thing Gallo ever got right. at least from his stuff i'd seen. i watched it a very long time ago, so it doesn't necessarily mean much, but i remember it capturing a nice vibe. and Ricci's sweetness kinda made the entire film work.

if only i could buy the man's sperm and ensure the survival of this supremely delicate, well-hung genome. i guess one can only dream.

teh b0lly!!1 03-09-2018 09:34 PM

i watched A Bronx Tale last night.

not even sure i should type a review about it, it was so bad lol. part of it is how dated it is, it's one of those films that just doesn't translate well with today's times. cliche upon cliche, some truly gut-wrenchingly horrible dialogues, lots of gems straight from the Wiseau directory, really. De Niro's filmmaking is so incredibly crude and rough around the edges, it's hard not to laugh sometimes. this film gave me a better minute:lol ratio than most Adam Sandler comedies.

it's a cute, hearty little film, but how it's deemed a gangster genre classic film is beyond me. guess you had to be there.

Salo, 120 Days of Sodom A+

Great film. Full of wholesome family fun. Recommended for children in Sunday School.

(thanks shallowed!)

TuralyonW3 03-11-2018 09:40 PM

I saw The Party last night. Played out a bit like a theater-play, and only lasted 1 hour and 10 minutes. Pretty good acting, nice twist.

7/10.

Three Billboards A- Loved nearly everything about this. I was like who is this woman, she's amazing, where have I seen her before, man this movie reminds me so much of Fargo, I love it, gosh she's good, where do I know her from?

I watched it on the plane after a Singapore Sling and two plastic cups of airplane wine so a sober rematch on land might lower the rating a little...

FoolofaTook 03-14-2018 09:13 AM

gametest -meh
shut up and dance - excellent
san juniperno - alright

you guys don't like black mirror?

LaBelle 03-14-2018 09:57 AM

Annihilation - 4/5
I loved this film, really really tense and intriguing throughout. Natalie Portman is really really good in it.
Strongly recommend to watch it without knowing anything about it.

toase 03-14-2018 10:18 AM

Ferdinand - made me cry
Coco - made me cry a lot
Dark Tower - meh

The Disaster Artist

Freaking hilarious and bizarrely inspirational. Great performances all around. How in the ever-living crap did James Franco (whom I normally despise) NOT get nominated for an Oscar for this movie?!

Give Tommy Wiseau credit...he never, ever gave up.

A

You get one guess.

FlamingGlobes 03-17-2018 07:36 AM

I'm pretty baffled, as the president of the academy is apparently a sex pest as well.

Verónica - ★★★★★
Really fuccn creepy and scary. Beautifully shot movie, makes very few uses of jump scares (and there are many missable creepy things in the background). The child actors and the main girl all put on really great performances.

teh b0lly!!1 03-21-2018 01:17 AM

watched 'shape of water'.

for the most part, did not like it.

Me too, about 5 years ago. Still haven't tried again.

I don't know if it counts as watching it, but I did watch the Rick and Morty episode that referenced it. And that was pretty good.
