Pastoral Zwan appreciation

i'm sure this is like the only show they played this song or some bullshit

A Certain Kind of Change....live at Cafe de la Danse....February 8th, 2003

Friends as Lovers....live at Cafe de la Danse....February 8th, 2003

this isn't zwan (obviously lol) but it's lovely and quite literally pastoral. beethoven's best symphony:

Ram27 07-25-2017 10:58 PM

oh by the way the most played zwan song was settle down (79 times)

fuck

BurtSampson 07-25-2017 11:29 PM

For seven years, seven days and seven hours he took his chances yeah

BurtSampson 07-25-2017 11:31 PM

Also The Shining Path is the best Zwan song

DemonUnicorns 07-25-2017 11:38 PM

Settle down.

Also, Settle Down. What a fantastic song!

russticles 07-26-2017 12:15 AM

You guys ever feel that some Zwan songs felt too long? I enjoyed the album but I always felt like the obvious "pop" songs on the record overstayed their welcome, like Settle Down, El Sol, Ride A Black Swan, Endless Summer. Not long in track length (or girth, lel) but just general vibe of the song, like Ride A Black Swan could've done without that last build up into yet another chorus.

Always made a full album listen a bit too fatiguing.

redbreegull 07-26-2017 01:51 AM

both great songs, but I especially love Friends as Lovers.

redbreegull 07-26-2017 01:56 AM

darling boy she says
you're on my mind she says

this pain is sweet – too sweet to touch

pretty sure that was one of those 2001 zwan songs that got played 5 times and never again.

MY DAY WILL COME
THERE'S A TURNAROUND TO BE WON

that'd be lovely acoustic too

~~~
el sol is really nice too, but somehow shittier on the record, even tho it's the same arrangement. JC's jazzy ride part feels less prominent
sunshine, that's all i wanted...you and me
Billy has a way since 2000 of taking the best songs he's written and flushing them down the toilet for some reason..
Gossamer would have been the best song on Zeitgeist if it would have appeared..
The Shining Path would have been the best song on a Swan album if it had appeared.
Joey Goldberg 12-13-2020 11:41 PM
it didn't tho & those examples are both 13-20 years old so how 'bout listening to the actual good records & - son of a bitch - other bands!!!!!!!!!!
Not enough vibrato and why is Bill's voice so quiet?
This is the real story of the band. Every studio album since well... arguably Adore/Machina, has been compromised by production & direction.
How the lead singer's ego led him to sabotage his own talent and commercial potential for 20 straight years.
if he hasn't killed that off for you by this point i'm truly afraid of the type of investments, emotional or otherwise, some of you may end up making in the future
Look at that shit-eating grin Corgan gets when the crowd goes nuts when he starts singing "Chrysanthemum". That was the moment it ceased to be a band and became another group with Billy calling the shots. (Not to belittle the fact that the crowd's scream really is a great moment).
