yesterday i popped into a jewel osco to buy lunch before my therapy appt. I bought a pre-made turkey & cheese sandwich (3 something), a jar of pickles (1.6-something), an odwalla vitamin c drink ($2), and a bell pepper (99 cents) for 8 smackers. i ate it on a starbucks patio >_>

don't hate. it's a great deal considering i got leftover pickles and a red bell pepper to eat later.

aldi is like trader joe's except doesn't have that oomph. i stepped into a trader joe's though, but didn't buy anything. white people overhype some basic boring-ass shit.

I think our most expensive crap buying at Aldi was a tv/dvd player. It was a couple hundred dollars and it was junk. But my husband bought that so I don't have to beat myself up for it.

I bought a school bag that was marked down to $7 and my kid used it for a year. It was great quality. You can just never tell at aldi, that's the problem. And we did need that.

Cupcake holders, I'm not so sure I needed 2 x 24-cupcake holders. I only used them when the kids took cupcakes in on their birthdays, or for school fairs or whatever. They took up a lot of space in the cupboard and they weren't cheap, and they weren't airtight, either. I would never have thought that cupcake holders even existed if I hadn't seen them at aldi. they were a pain to clean. lessons lessons

And I bought a table runner once, that was an ugly purple, I didn't like it, but it was marked down to like $4 or something, and I just couldn't resist

f'n aldi

i like aldi for:

beef jerky
nuts (which i don't buy anymore cuz i binge on them... but they're good)
olive oil
vegetables (frozen, some fresh)
cheese of all kinds
cauliflower pizza (better than whole food 365 brand and real good brand for sure)
sugar free popsicles (better than name brand)
cat treats
paper goods

honestly i still can't eat anything with carbs as a primary ingredient (Wheat, rice, oatmeal, etc) so that's a lot of stuff. i wish they had some frozen meals but with publix BOGO i usually can get a good variety anyway

also their chocolate off-brand halo top ice cream is way better than the original one

reprise85 09-19-2019 08:18 PM

but no i don't think i waste money there. i have bought like a body pillow and a scale there before and they were both worth the money.

Ram27 09-19-2019 11:10 PM

i also like walmart for cheap prices and to feel better about myself based on other clientele

Is Aldi where you pay a quarter to use a shopping cart? LOL, I don't think so, whites

I've pissed away a small fortune on fresh fruits and vegetables at Aldi. What a waste.

Mals Marola 09-23-2019 10:32 AM

what were you doing pissing on fruits & vegetables?

Cool As Ice Cream 09-27-2019 02:39 PM

i do most of my shopping at aldi.

FoolofaTook 09-27-2019 03:13 PM

Cool As Ice Cream 09-27-2019 04:10 PM

i buy food there, not crap.

there's an aldi in my street now, so it makes sense to go there. i also appreciate their speed at the register.

FoolofaTook 09-27-2019 07:41 PM

they sell it right there, like, openly?

Cool As Ice Cream 09-28-2019 02:32 AM

yes. it's next to the chewing gum and cigarettes.

Aldi is owned by Trader Joes (surely someone mentioned this) - a German company. Aldi rules. I cut my grocery bill in half by shopping there instead of Kroger. It also forces me to buy seasonal produce. I love it.
