What Cure album should i listen to next?

So ive listened to The head on the door, and i thought it was great. however, being the indecisive and clueless person i am, i have idea which album(s) i should listen to next.

I was thinking either Pornography or Disintegration but i have no clue.

FoolofaTook 03-21-2019 08:14 PM

i'm pretty new to the cure and i have only listened to half of their albums, but i would say pornography.

FoolofaTook 03-21-2019 08:15 PM

can't go wrong with disintegration though.

Mals Marola 03-21-2019 08:16 PM

if your only point of reference is Head On Door & you liked it, i'd just go upward chronologically to Disintegration (so Kiss Me x3 then Disint)

then it's kind of free game from there

FlamingGlobes 03-21-2019 08:45 PM

Disintegration, then Wish. Then, I'd say get into Seventeen Seconds and such.

Modern90's 03-21-2019 09:33 PM

thanks for the opinions i might go for what mals said.

what would y'all say your favorite cure album is?

FlamingGlobes 03-21-2019 09:35 PM

Disintegration, easily.

Elphenor 03-21-2019 10:00 PM

just listen to all of them?

but 17 Seconds and Faith are my favorite as of RIGHT NOW

FoolofaTook 03-21-2019 10:14 PM

Pornography and Head on the Door

FoolofaTook 03-21-2019 10:14 PM

Bloodflowers too but ppl will give me shit for this.

eviltimeban 03-22-2019 05:22 AM

Faith is my favourite, part of the trilogy that starts with 17 Seconds and ends with Pornography.

Faith has some great songs but it's the sound of the thing which is amazing. That bass just goes through you. All Cats Are Grey is probably my favourite track on it.

17 Seconds is really good too. You gotta have A Forest.

this guy knows what's up

Elphenor 03-22-2019 05:26 AM

not dissing Pornography either

it's just a special kind of relentless miserable

can be just what I need at times

FoolofaTook 03-22-2019 08:48 AM

listening to a forest stoned is one of the best things that has ever happened to me

Mals Marola 03-22-2019 11:49 AM

Faith is my favorite of those 3 early depressing albums, but the mid-80s to early-90s period is the Cure "sweet spot" for me

Elphenor 03-22-2019 01:04 PM

3 Imaginary Boys rulez too honestly

it's The Cure

literally just listen to anything up to Wish

Mals Marola 03-22-2019 01:16 PM

but also "Want" & some of that 2000s stuff (y'all already know i have a sweet spot for the s/t, but I won't foist that on the unwitting New Cure Fan just yet :stan:)

Yeah, I would say hit up everything between & including Head on the Door and Wish. That's their best material, and there's enough going on between all of them that you'll get a good idea of the different moods the band could pull off. Then, look through the rest of the discography depending on what mood you want to explore next. If you're looking for the gloominess of Disintegration (which is the best album of all time, fwiw), check out Seventeen Seconds, Faith, and Pornography. If you like how lush some of Wish is, go for Bloodflowers and the newer albums. If you like their more oddball moments, The Top also has so much to offer. This is a great band and you're so lucky you still get to listen to a lot of this stuff for the first time.

Elphenor 03-23-2019 07:05 AM

The Top is so much fun if ya listen to the reissue with the bonus tracks

Shake dog shake!

Elphenor 03-23-2019 07:09 AM

stale and selfish as a sick dog spurting sense like an animal of God

Mals Marola 03-23-2019 09:34 AM

they played a surprising amount of The Top stuff the couple of times I saw them

FoolofaTook 03-23-2019 01:23 PM

i downloaded faith and will listen again later today

Shadaloo 03-25-2019 11:13 AM

Favorite Cure album is typically Faith, but it's really impossible to say Disintegration isn't their best. Just, holy shit.

NovaFritz 03-25-2019 11:54 AM

listen to Wild Mood Swings, you def won't regret it ;)

FoolofaTook 03-25-2019 12:20 PM

yeah that one is next on my list after i relisten faith and 17 secs.

treasure is one of my fav cure songs.

Mals Marola 03-25-2019 01:00 PM

that's gotta be their most hit & miss album ever, in a similar category with 4.13 & The Top in that even with the misses it is worth at least a few listen to find yer preferred hits

Mals Marola 03-25-2019 01:01 PM

i guess Kiss Me x3 qualifies for that categorization as well, tho i'd say the hit ratio was quite a bit higher in that one's case

NovaFritz 03-25-2019 04:22 PM

Listening to WMS is like listening to MTAE. Sure could do it, maybe even learn to like it, but with all of the good music in the world, why bother?

Anything post-Wish is a waste of precious lifetime.

FoolofaTook 03-25-2019 04:37 PM

hell no bloodflowers rules, fool
