What if Netphoria vs. Sadmachines, but Weezer?

We are Leslie Jones, obvi ;)

ps fuzzy pls don't derail this into you defending post-pinkerton Weezer

fuzzyroes 12-16-2018 08:45 PM

heh, I just saw this. Funny piece!

AveryLoren 12-16-2018 09:20 PM

Damn, funny SNL WITH Leslie Jones? Hell has finally froze over.

Insight_Scoop 12-16-2018 09:26 PM

Weezer actually does have netphoria/sad machine equivalents.

reprise85 12-16-2018 10:00 PM

lol this part too

redbreegull 12-16-2018 10:02 PM

I would be surprised, even shocked, if they didn't.

I really felt this on a spiritual level. Netphoria in a nutshell.

johncg 12-16-2018 10:38 PM

Also, Weezer really did die when Matt Sharp left. Anyone who thinks differently should be shot.

TuralyonW3 12-16-2018 10:59 PM

Yeah this sketch is solid fucking gold

Raskolnikov 12-16-2018 11:56 PM

We don't pay for cable at my place - but our over the air antenna gets 2 channels, one of which is NBC. Last night we flipped on the TV, forgot it was on - and it was tuned to live tv, which it rarely is - see "two channels" - and ended up watching most of SNL for the first time in I couldn't even tell you how long.

When this skit's whole thing became clear, my wife and I were loving it. Such deep talk that I'm sure was lost on the great majority of viewers.

Key line: "You're a grown ass man, and you're bringing up stuff from Hurley?"

Gold.

pale_princess 12-16-2018 11:59 PM

^ yeah, those who got it, GOT IT!!!

Have you and your wife seen the movie Juliet, Naked? It's a well-done romcom with a great insight into fan culture for past-their-prime musicians, you guys would love it. One of my faves of the year.

Shallowed 12-17-2018 12:33 AM

Just watched this. God, it's so corny. I get that it's supposed to be, but GOD it's SO corny.

nah, weezer fans are pretty chill. there used to be a nethoria equivalent but that was like 11 years ago and it was called weezernation. i think most of the snarky people moved on. so there's hope for all of us here.

LaBelle 12-17-2018 04:01 AM

but weezer had openly misogynistic and even pedo lyrics from the jump.

they were never good.

At least billy didn't put some of his worst thoughts into songs so people can claim the whole separate art from artist, i'll give him that.

Corgan's Bluff 12-17-2018 06:56 AM

Lousy comeback in "Africa":

Jimmy should show his drum skills in "Rosanna":

I can't stand their Africa cover. It's the musical equivalent of Pickle Rick.

Mals Marola 12-17-2018 09:02 AM

i don't really listen to Weezer much but Green Album was good, peeps can fuck off w/ this "nothing was good post-Pinkerton" shit

Mals Marola 12-17-2018 09:07 AM

anyway, skit's pretty funny - surprised something this niche made it to air but 1 point for modern SNL i suppose

It's art. It's okay if it's uncomfortable subject matter. The pure unbridled honesty is part of what makes Pinkerton so special.

brothahi4L 12-17-2018 10:46 AM

Can anyone explain me what sadmachines exactly is besides some hardcore fanbase? Are they crawling into billys ass, stalking him or sending xmas cards to jupitter?

Mals Marola 12-17-2018 11:11 AM

^ yes to all

Lol of course you'd say that.

And of course you identify with it, it's incelcore at it's finest.

Mals Marola 12-17-2018 11:24 AM

i preferred "incelcore at its finest," but you do you

LaBelle 12-17-2018 11:25 AM

Fixed

Mals Marola 12-17-2018 11:26 AM

thx

Mals Marola 12-17-2018 11:27 AM

& i wanna say billy has put some of his worst thoughts on paper, and into tracks, but i guess we already have that one lyric thread for that :stan:

Mals Marola 12-17-2018 11:27 AM

lord knows the Lord doesn't need further blasphemy seeping out into other threads!
