but i'm looking for the original set of .shn files like it used to be shared on the hub, for example.

would anyone still have those sitting around somewhere?

thx!

Loved this CD back in the day. Fuck You is absolutely essential.

Slurpee 12-02-2014 05:43 PM

Meant to say, I may have these files, PM me if I haven't PM'ed you in a couple days with a yes/no.

Cool As Ice Cream 12-03-2014 04:58 AM

thank you, both.

Slurpee 12-05-2014 11:03 AM

Unfortunately, seems like I had these files back in the days of "Download, burn, then delete." Just missed my transition from hoarding CDs to hoarding files.

I can so clearly remember downloading them from Josh (distancexx)'s FTP, back when the soundboards were l33t.

Cool As Ice Cream 12-05-2014 11:47 AM

all right. thanks for checking.

Raskolnikov 12-05-2014 04:26 PM

I still have my first generation CD from the tree - so could make you some FLAC or ALAC from that if desired?

magikarp99 12-05-2014 08:33 PM

Cool! FLAC rip with a log from EAC would be great :)

Raskolnikov 01-16-2015 07:21 PM

Haven't used EAC in years. That said, cause I'm cool like that, will download and see if I can remember how to work it later tonight. If it has a learning curve still, then you might just get some Apple Lossless Files. =P

Mals Marola 01-16-2015 11:08 PM

i have the shn for this, remember listening and thinking the mix was oddly unsatisfying... not enough "heft" to the drums maybe? tried workin with 'em as wavs, seems like the bass is loud enough in it to sorta make the kick difficult to bring out

i'll be damned if there's no way to "fatten these" up tho!

Raskolnikov 02-11-2015 03:14 PM

.

Raskolnikov 02-11-2015 06:57 PM

FLAC Rip with EAC Log: https://www.yousendit.com/download/U...TlFiR0tHR3NUQw

WAV Rip with EAC Log: https://www.yousendit.com/download/U...R3NEbUxsZThUQw

Both are 1st Gen rips from my original CD-R from the tree. Ahh, the good ol' days.

slunken 02-12-2015 09:18 PM

thanks

Cool As Ice Cream 02-13-2015 05:21 AM

thanks, raskolnikov!

I think these are probably the original files, but can't say for sure.

i do believe these are indeed the original files.
the files were created on 24 october 2000. (at least, that's what they say. i guess one could easily put a fake date on them.)

the question that remains: which were first? these .shn files, or that cd-r from the tree? what's the best version for our (hypothetical?) magnet link project?
or do they have an equal distance from the "source"?
were the .shn files used to burn the tree cd-rs? or were they also sourced by ripping another tree cd-r?
(when was this tree?)

Cool As Ice Cream 02-14-2015 06:45 AM

that's true.

Raskolnikov 02-21-2015 11:04 PM

hahaha... what's this picture?

Can't answer the shn vs cd situation... but I can unequivocally say that I would be all for hearing whatever you guys come up with in terms of tweaks/remasterings to this set of files. They already sound great, but I'm all ears.
