Oceania Megathread
so how do you switch the country on iTunes? everyone kinda wants to know...
You go to that country
Quasar. the mixing is strange so far. at the spacey part which is very quick, unlike the live versions.
Panopticon... very good, but the drumming is something i'll have to get used to, i guess. there is a distinct break in between Quasar and Panopticon... an iTunes thing? i thought it would stream right into it...
i thought it would be heavier, but Panopticon's melody is fantastic. a good "psychedelic lifting off point" too... not single worthy, unfortunately.
it's the same god damn drum track every song
Celestials starts bad, but has an interesting twist with bass/drum things and turns heavy. i thought it was a momentum killer, but it might have some legs after one listen...
Violet Rays. meh.
MLIW has NOT been in my liking so far at all... the studio version is quite good actually. I will always cringe at the title, but same with TTWMLI, it will grow on me I have a feeling. Nice acoustic and strings with mellotron in the middle section. however you feel about it, it has interesting facets to the song, IMO. a good build up>outro. pleasantly surpised on this one...
god damn it how do i listen to this
iTunes store. Go to bottom of page, under manage click change country. Click UK.
np: "The Celestials" And holy shit, this song is rocking. Disarm vibe-ish, then builds nicely. |
One Diamond, One Heart.... wow, even more surprised from the stupid 30sec clip on Amazon, i thought it would suck balls. Nice!
Is it just me, or does the stream have poor quality? Or is the production this muffled?
PINWHEELS!!! I'm getting fucking chills. Wow.
yeah, the stream is scratchy a bit for me too.
np: Oceania ~ big hopes for this.

was that xylophone before the "try to wait on me" part? and why the acoustic on this part? takes away from the spacey-psychedelic vibe... good harmonies tho!
nice transition from acoustic to the second groove... okay, i'm back in.
No one care.
I'm only four songs deep, but I'm pleasantly surprised so far. The Celestials is pretty fucking cool, and the synth on Violet Rays isn't annoying like I was worried it might be.
odd solo and odd fade out on Oceania... on first listen, smh.
some really good things about this album, but damnit. my head can't handle byrne.
such a shame too |
Pale Horse has the right balance, right sounds used. Very good. Fresh sounding.
The Chimera is the "catchy rock song" so far... pure Zwan sound, but that's okay. Zwan was good. (Shut up i know what you're going to say).
A new live favorite I'm guessing... superb guitar work here. |
Glissandra has a nice groove. Byrne isn't in the forefront of my mind when I hear this. That's good and means he's doing something right.
Inkless automatically recalls the song MSOTS... in a good way.
I changed the country to UK... and I'm not getting a preview. There is a button that says "Preview all" but it doesn't click for me. Anyone else have this? Anyone know how to rip from the stream?
Wildflower is basically the same song as Pomp & Circumstance from Zeitgeist. What a waste of a 13th track. Even had a wanky solo that went nowhere. Definitely vying for worst album closer vs. Come With Me and P&C, imo.
BUT... overall on first listen a good album, oh, wait, that's Quasar starting again... love it or leave it, who cares, its just rock n roll. SP, thank you. |
doesn't this mean that technically Oceania did not leak?
good on BC to release it in such a smart way. this record is great...best since SP1 by a long shot. |
