I actually kinda like this song. The recording is shitty (not sure if that's intentional or not). But it's haunting.

I can't agree with that, knowing that Sparrow and The Crying Tree of Mercury* exist.



*To be fair, had Bill recorded TCTOM the way he performs it live, with just him and an acoustic guitar, it would probably be a great song. But that fucking synth line and that electric guitar part he plays throughout are so fucking irritating it makes me want to gouge out my eardrums with a rusty icepick.

Glad I'm not alone in thinking that. I also think that The Crying Tree of Mercury is the most ridiculous, pretentious name Bill has ever given a song. He might as well have gone all Shayamalan on it and added another 10-15 extra words.

Always hated this song, now I actually listen to it once in a while and enjoy it. Not sure why. Maybe because Bill's vocals are kinda cool with the melody bouncing up and down, not a standard Bill verse mode.

Annie Dog is the worst SP1 song. Every 15 year old who bought the album in 1998 thought that song sucked and rightfully so. Once In a While or Waiting should’ve been on the album instead.

Heavy Metal Machine is so pretentious and whiny it's hilarious and that's kind of the point to it

CTOM though really is pretty grating and it just fucking goes on and on and on and on. I'm sure if there's an early mix of it we've yet to hear it's probably better but...the M1 version's really some form of punishment to the ears.
