Daft Punk - Random Access Memories

Streaming for free in it's entirety on iTunes today. Midway through my first listen and it is pretty fucking good so far. Get Lucky was a pretty good indicator to the organic style of the album. I'd imagine if they ever do a tour for this, which they said they don't plan on doing, they would have a band of hired musicians along with them and it wouldn't just be those two dancing on some contraption.

Best song so far is Touch.

Banana 05-14-2013 09:52 PM

Damn the album version of Get Lucky is nice.

Banana 05-14-2013 10:18 PM

Yeah.

That is going to end up winning a lot of album of the year awards.

slunken 05-14-2013 10:25 PM

I agree about the awards but I found this exhausting. The credits list is amazing though. Lots of love for Giorgio and Nile.

ghost-mutt 05-14-2013 10:26 PM

thought it was a bit underwhelming tbh. a few killer songs on there but i expected a bit more actual dance music instead of funk-jazz thing they've got going on.

still cool but yeah.

slunken 05-14-2013 10:27 PM

I love that spoken word interview track

Banana 05-14-2013 10:44 PM

My favorite tracks after the first listen were Touch, Get Lucky and the song with Panda Bear. I liked the funk-jazz feel to the album. I love when great and established music artists make a bold attempt in a whole new direction and nail it.

I honestly probably haven't enjoyed another new album on the first listen as much since the first time I listened to In Rainbows back in 2007.

I feel like Beyond would have made an awesome opener to the album.

Does anybody know if there is an 'iTunes Rip' already available?
I don't have an iTunes account :(

Found a flac torrent circulating, but it nobody seems to be seeding it properly... I have no idea if it is the real deal though...

Banana 05-15-2013 07:42 PM

I'm not there also... am I too oldschool in the internet?

Anyways, found it here, hope it works

toase 05-17-2013 11:44 AM

Instrumental tracks are the best
'contact' is awesome

Rocket Launcher 05-19-2013 03:50 PM

Shit, can't stop listening to Doin' It Right.

Sonic Johnny 05-19-2013 09:06 PM

I haven't seen a band receive so much undeserved critical fellatio since LCD Soundsystem broke up.

slunken 05-19-2013 10:42 PM

Can't remember if I posted but this is a very fatiguing album. Attribute that to its digital nature?

Sonic Johnny 05-21-2013 06:38 AM

If you don't like vocoders I'd probably say Daft Punk isn't for you.

mercurial 05-21-2013 08:12 AM

This album is p. terrible

Trotskilicious 05-29-2013 02:27 PM

you've been doing a lot of name calling lately. what happened to the road to redemption? i understand that the album was made with live musicians and even live drums but anybody who knows anything about electronic music could tell you that the entire album has been synced to a clock.

it's pretty digital and exhausting

i'm not really defending the daft punk here i just thought it was weird that you were complaining about "digital" since you actually are a fan of comptor muzik
