speaking of mbv
does loveless have the most boneheaded track sequence or what
Elaborate, because so far I'm not agreeing with you.
I assume you mean because it's pretty jumpy?
umm Nah. It's charming. At least you can remember the different songs on the first listen with the distinctions. Aparrently, the fact that each track is a flowing scape doesn't make it a flowing album. It's more of a collection and you need to deal with it!! |
See, I actually think the album does flow as a whole. Maybe I've just listened to it too much, but I can't imagine Loomer not following Only Shallow, or Sometimes not following Come In Alone, or Soon not following What You Want, or When You Sleep not following To Here Knows When. Those particular transitions work awesomely to me.
I don't really agree either, I like the transitions.
i agree with redbull
what i mean is tracks three and four. 'touched' is alright 'cause it's short but 'to here knows when'? you don't put that shit back to back after two songs. you got all these nice pop songs and you completely break the momentum and put people to sleep after two songs. i don't mind much because i like weird music, but as a pop album that's just dumb. i know if i gave my sister the album to listen to she would get bored/annoyed and turn it off before getting to 'when you sleep'

if you get bored with metal machine music you don't get lou reed to begin with
Yeah, uh, totally not the same thing at all.
the problem is that the album gets more boring after the first 4 tracks, they should have put to here knows when later on the album so there was a reason to keep listening
most of loveless is mediocre songs with amazing production

i prefer isn't anything anyway |
isn't anything is indeed superior. more variety, better songwriting, not quite the production level but still very impressive.
loveless would have been better as a series of 12"s to break up the monotony.
i mean tremolo and glider are both awesome
Loveless is great... people go on about the production, but i just think its the guitar sounds he's getting - its not exactly a production master peice as the reputation suggests.
I don't really like 'I Only Said' |
the album also has keyboard parts, great drum mixing, bass parts, vocals. the guitar sound he gets on there is only really impressive by itself for moments of the whole album.
I like the end of the album better, from Sometimes onwards. And I prefer it to Isn't Anything.
