Jimmy is set to sell over 200 items from his personal collection
"Legendary Smashing Pumpkins drummer Jimmy Chamberlin is set to sell over 200 items from his personal collection on Reverb, including many pieces used live and in the studio with The Smashing Pumpkins, Zwan, and other projects throughout his career.
Jimmy’s impetus for letting such a large amount of equipment go is simple. He likes to keep things fresh, always looking forward when it comes to his sound and playing. After 20–plus years of collecting gear for various projects, he believes these instruments should be in the hands of people who will play them regularly. From three massive Yamaha drum kits (including a Maple Custom used on sessions for Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness) to over a dozen snares such as ones by Ludwig, Ayotte, and Brady, this collection is as diverse and vast as Jimmy’s body of work. Also up for sale are a number of hand percussion instruments, drum heads, guitars, microphones, and pieces of outboard gear. Jimmy’s shop will be live on February 22. Check out the gallery below to see some highlights of the items that will be available for purchase, including the ‘40s Slingerland Radio King played on the verses of the Pumpkins’ 1993 hit "Today." |
Oh goddamn
I'd better sell some pizzas Imagine owning that yellow Machina kit. Holy shit. |
Is he not selling any cymbals? I'd love some golden era rides
|
Haha you can always sell your bod, ram, for the quickest cash
|
OH FUCK THE MACHINA KIT
I wanttttttttt AND HE PLAYS THROUGH THE SONGS AS AN EXAMPLE OF WHAT DRUMS WERE USED ON THOSE RECORDINGS OMGOMGOMG |
Not gonna lie... I'm kind of bummed thinking about some random asshole owning this stuff, especially the Today snare and Mellon Collie studio set.
|
LOL @ Jimmy's wife telling him to get rid of all this shit.
Seriously though why am I not rich. I would pay so, so much for the Mellon Collie kit. |
I was under the impression that the MACHINA live kit was on display at a Hard Rock location. I am going to throw some serious money at that kit. As long as its the real deal.
|
You guys are going to waste all that money on instruments you can't play instead of buying weed??
|
I can play https://www.youtube.com/playlist?lis...E-jcL-XqvJFj9Q
Very keen to own the Machina set, fucking obsessed over that setup for years. And yes, I thought this was chopped up on display at one of the Hard Rock places?! Maybe he had 2 of them made... or the one on display is a cheap replica? Cause the cymbals with the display kit are like ZBT's or some shit. |

a) it doesn't seem like he's selling any cymbals at all b) most of the kits seem weirdly incomplete. like they have two kick drums but not all the toms I know when he orders kits he gets a ton of drums made with the same wrap/specs. Like the Zwan tiger print kit he got a full 7(?) piece then another kick and a bunch of concert toms as well:: http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6037/...bc274443_b.jpg But the auction photo of the Machina kit is just two kick drums, a piccolo snare, a normal snare (but not the one with wood hoops with a metal shell that he used on tour), two rack toms, then three shallow toms that he just mounted off to the side (http://i.imgur.com/oamXNDi.gif) |
I'm guessing (hoping) the kit is complete but these are example photos of what's up for grabs, maybe they'll list off all the sizes/specs of the drums on Feb 22.
|
man i really want ram27 to get some of this! and other people on this board, rather than some jerks from elsewhere
|
I'm going as high as 10k for the MACHINA kit. But that's if there is some sort of verification that it's an actual tour used kit. Supposedly the kit was a part of the Hard Rock Café of Cleveland's repertoire.

Ah shit, ok that makes sense. So the rest of it is at the hard rock cafe, that's a damn shame, it's incomplete :( Those are the missing drums.
Wonder how much the Phoenix will list for... |
Gotta love Jimmy casually banging out songs like "Cash Car Star" while casually talking to the camera.
|
You guys remind me of the days when I shaved my head and wore a zero shirt.
ah children children when will you learn? |

One of the coolest pieces is not even included (the Gish snare) cause this dude bought it for $200 at some music store in Chicago:

There's also the Zeitgeist (studio) kit that was picked up as well: https://www.pearldrummersforum.com/s...-Zeitgeist-kit!
|
A truly priceless treasure.
|
Really though, if I was spending thousands on a drum kit I wouldn't buy anything involved with ZG
