reprise's kitty kronicles

so, the cat ****** was trying to give me didn't come though, for reasons beyond both of our control.

today i went to tri county humane society and scoped out this kitty:

Gonna go back on Tuesday with a note from my landlord OKing the pet and then I should be able to get her. It has to get approved or whatever but everything should be good to go. She has some eye issues so is considered "special needs" but really should only need eye drops 2x a day.

Her name is Layla but they spelled it wrong in the website (Lele - they had no idea what cat I was talking about when I got there). I kinda like Lele though. Or I could just rename her altogether. whatchu think

Shallowed 01-31-2013 08:27 PM

I prefer Layla.

What happened to its whiskers?

Shallowed 01-31-2013 08:32 PM

del

reprise85 01-31-2013 08:36 PM

it's the picture. she still has all of her whiskers

reprise85 01-31-2013 08:37 PM

as soon i asked the person working about her she said her name and the cat came right over to me and then i sat in a chair and it sat on my lap and used my hand as a pillow and went to sleep

pavementtune 01-31-2013 08:41 PM

I'm happy for the two of you! :)

As for her name: that might come naturally once she's home. Either she's a Lele, a Layla or someone else, you'll see it. How old is she?

reprise85 01-31-2013 08:45 PM

she is one year and a few months, i think it was three but it might have been two

she also has a sibling there with the same issues but they arent really bonded so i can just take her

Bread Regal 01-31-2013 08:59 PM

I feel extremely bad for that whole thing falling through. The cat was just one of the many things that guy did to piss us right the fuck off. If you still want the cat tree though, I'll be happy to bring it down one of these weekends.

reprise85 01-31-2013 09:17 PM

I would love the cat tree if you want to bring it. :) No rush and I definitely didn't expect you to still offer. Maybe we can actually make a day out of it and do something fun.

reprise85 01-31-2013 09:21 PM

I had already freecycled the recliner i had to make room for the cat tree before you had to cancel so I have the room now

Bread Regal 01-31-2013 09:27 PM

excellent. it might be around spring break-ish (first week of march) that we come down there. i have to deliver musical equipment as well to relatives in miami so it might just turn into a little vaycay.

Layla is ridiculously cute too. I'm hoping it all comes through for her. One of our kitties has some tear duct issues and we have to put drops in his eyes regularly.

reprise85 01-31-2013 09:36 PM

I hope it comes through too. I wasn't able to get them any records on my last cat because it's been 5+ years but the person I talked to said that should be fine. My dad also got a cat from this same place like two years ago and my family has had tons of cats with records I could get for them if they just wanted to see something.

Hope to see you in March then :D

I think C-day is going to be Tuesday. They said if I come in early they can prob do it same day. If they can't then it should be Thursday.

animal shelters are the devil's toybin

cat rescue is amazing. my mom feeds a few strays cats that live on/in/by the lake and this past summer one of them had a kitten. now the mother pushed it away and it seems lost now that its cold out. my mom's solution was to prop open the door so it could come in. which it does.

slunken 02-01-2013 02:16 AM

this kitten climbs trees and then holds real still like it really believes it is sneaking up on birds and they will not notice a cat in a tree

slunken 02-01-2013 02:18 AM

the last stray i rescued had a litter (of course) and all the kittens had eye infections. had to bathe all 6 of them twice a day to remove the goo and crust from their eyes for about 6 months. my best friend was one of these kittens.

aw i'm a sucker for lassie stories

teh b0lly!!1 02-02-2013 10:42 AM

last night i watched peter jackson's remake of king kong and i mean while i think it's sort of a terrible cgi summer hit cliche ridden micropenis ensemble cast movie i was terribly moved by it even though i kinda know i shouldn't be.
i suppose i wouldn't care if it was just another story about humans but the fact that it was essentially a love story about a human and a majestically powerful pet that gets destroyed by our abhorrent species made me kind of emotional

this thread is about pets so
