There are 6 metal bands by the name of Incubus
 
Incubus' last fm page is hilarious. Besides the popular American band there are 6 other bands with the same name. And they are all metal bands. And five of those are thrash metal bands.

according to discogs there are 14 bands with the name "incubus"

not terribly uncommon for such a generic name

This is true. When I was 8 and used to make up fake bands and their albums, Incubus was one of the names I chose. (Incidentally, they were to be power metal.)
