where do you live in Japan? I'm in Osaka!

Thanks.

I live in Idaho but have family in Japan. We go to Japan every so often and stay in Osaka (Toyonaka, to be exact.)

JapanAlex 03-14-2008 03:32 AM

well your photos are brilliant and if you are in Osaka before I leave I would be delighted to be shown around your city! haha!

null123 03-14-2008 04:01 AM

some random shots... I like this thread :)

I don't know why, but I love close up shots of old people's faces...

Speaking of expensive cameras, I bought a Canon 350d yesterday, just in time for my mom's wedding on Saturday. We'll see what kind of interesting shots I can get a redneck wedding :D

i like that some toy camera shots are showing up in the thread. in ~2003-2004 i was really into shooting stuff w/ a holga

in 2002 i did this with my tlr:

this one was used on a book cover:

and this is when wesley willis came to visit my friend during college:

he loved having his photo taken.

and maio, you made one name drop of a photographer "ansel adams" (a photographer EVERYONE knows) and have been going around here trashing people's work. you posted one photo of some kids with idiot hair- and you think you are the shit. get a life.

Kahlo 03-14-2008 08:59 AM

great shots. I think I need to dig my holga out again!

smashkin33 03-14-2008 09:08 AM

thanks kahlo.
once in a while i do miss being in a dark room though, and sniffing in all that awesome chemistry.

i haven't shot with my holga or any other toy cameras (like a quadcam, a diana) or polaroid land cameras since i got a dslr- it just makes it too easy. not to mention you a load of money on film.

I'm in love with my Holga... my only problem is that the processing and printing is so expensive. I spent $25 on processing 2 rolls the other day (single prints on one, double on the other). I really need to invest in a home processing kit. :(

And since I know everyone here loves the nature shots, here's a sunset in Klamath, shot from the youth hostel across the street:
