Ok, so why was the movie Fargo called Fargo?
 

I just saw this for the first time and the title seems kind of irrelevant.

The people in the movie are from Fargo. The movie was mostly filmed in Minnesota, and a lot of the movie does take place in Minnesota as well. I suppose the Coens liked "Fargo" better than "Minnesota."

i saw that movie before i knew what a classic it was and i just thought it was another so so upn saturday afternoon movie. when i heard all the hype about cohen brothers and fargo i was kind of let down when i realized i had seen it before and thats what it was. maybe growing up familiar with the minnesotan accent kind of takes away from it though

i should see fargo again. i don't think i've seen it since it was in theaters.

nobody in the movie is from fargo you idiots, and the only part of the movie that takes place there is the opening scene

the coen brothers themselves have said the only reason the titled it fargo was because it sounded better than "Brainerd"

I bought this DVD months ago, and it's still in its wrapper. I love the film, but I have to be in the exact right mood to watch it.
