poll: is fuzzyroes sentient?

is he a sentient being or nah

hnibos 02-06-2016 07:37 PM

Keep in mind he dropped out of high school because he knows its all pointless and he'll never need to know anything they teach there.

Aeris 02-06-2016 08:26 PM

has to be a troll at this point

Well, you have to be sentient to make choices. Even poor ones.

there's no such thing as choice

reprise85 02-06-2016 09:18 PM

can he use language? yes
can he reason about things that are not physically in front of him? yes

Decartes says he's sentient. But some animals are and babies aren't. So.

redbreegull 02-06-2016 09:31 PM

technically sentience is just the ability to experience or perceive things, so even a jellyfish or a coral is sentient in that it has senses and can respond to its environment. there's a good argument for plant sentience as well. But colloquially we usually use it to mean awareness, or even more specifically self-awareness.

reprise85 02-06-2016 09:32 PM

yes, of course

redbreegull 02-06-2016 09:34 PM

however we should consider that an AI can arbitrate in a manner which outwardly appears to be choice making as humans experience it, but is not sentient. I think we should not rule out the contingency that fuzzy is an algorithm running on the parameters of having really bad opinions

redbreegull 02-06-2016 09:34 PM

and being aggressive about those bad opinions while blindly attacking others for their own bad opinions

crabshack 02-07-2016 12:38 AM

fuck you for shaming

crabshack 02-07-2016 12:47 AM

All the frat boys who attend Marilyn Manson concerts really bother me

Fuzz Zeroes is, though, incredibly long suffering and good natured about the abuse he takes on this board from nearly everyone, right? His posts are often hilarious, and I've never seen him be cruel.

His worst "sin" being when he used to consistently threadshit while drunk, taking indefensible positions.

Verdict: I likes him

crabshack 02-07-2016 12:59 AM

This is not a banning thread. RBG is a piece of shit for making you think otherwise. He needs to get his head out of his ass.

FoolofaTook 02-07-2016 11:17 AM

on the song "At Giza" from the album "Conference of Birds" Al chants:

"Sentient ground of the light shrine shining."

evoking a visceral reaction from the depths of my corrupted bowels.

FoolofaTook 02-07-2016 11:17 AM

corrugated bowels

He was innocuous to me until he started with the anti-Muslim shit, and then it's, you know, not so innocuous anymore

lol who's being aggressive? You know you know your music, yet you parade around championing the most cookie-cutter, contrived teen idol.

I wouldn't reply if I knew you were trolling, but at this point I'm really not sure what your angle is:noway::love:

Thanks buddy*hugs* I've tried to avoid the drunk netphoria posting for the most part. For what it's worth I'd often log in a few days later and kinda shudder at some of the stuff I'd be going off about. But hey, we all have our warts right?:smoke:

I'm not really anti-Muslim per-say, just simply playing devils advocate that there is a segment of their culture that is terribly oppressive. And even worse there is a growing portion of their followers who believe in taking psychopathic action "in the name of the Quran"

Don't really see how that opinion is anti-anything. You can hate people of different races and creeds without being a racist or bigot you know.

He's just acting out cause I was the only one who took his bait with the Taylor Swift loving.

The guy did the same shit to Trotsky all of the time... Takes some ridiculous stance and then when Trots would inevitably grill him he would flip it all around on him... Hey, it makes for entertaining boarding at least.

I think overall that he's a cool guy though.

redbreegull 02-07-2016 11:14 PM

you've been factually corrected with sources on your beliefs about "Muslim culture" enough that you should know better at this point, the fact that you still believe these things speaks to a belief system that does not consider factual information which is a big part of what prejudice is

redbreegull 02-07-2016 11:26 PM

I'm not really anti-Christian per say, just trying to point out how gun violence, factory farming, colonialism and obesity are problems with Christian culture.

it doesn't make much sense, does it. I've said it what seems like it must be a dozen times to you already, but all the talking points you repeat about Islam are basically true of the regimes in Saudi Arabia, Iran, The Taliban, and IS, and not many other places outside that. Islam is nothing like that in Turkey, or Malaysia, or Israel and Palestine. Even under the grip of those regimes, there are many many many people who do not agree with those interpretations of their religion. You can't paint Wahhabism and Suffism with the same brush, they couldn't be more different. It's no different than throwing a Christian soup kitchen volunteer in the same pile as a Spanish Inquisitor from the 16th century, or the Amish in the same pile as the Puritans at the Salem witch trials. One, it literally just doesn't make sense and serves only to make people stupid about actual facts and the way things actually are, and two you are repeating things that actually damage people's lives and hold them down.

redbreegull 02-07-2016 11:42 PM

this thread was sanctioned by the Kindness Regime

redbreegull 02-07-2016 11:44 PM

also I have no idea what he is talking about with Trots. Trots and I usually fought because he would be an incredibly judgmental bullying prick, and then when the same thing was done back to him he would totally lose it.
