Uh, from memory I think it is just a clean guitar with some reverb? It's over some acoustic chords I think mixed way back.

i think you have to take it apart

redbreegull 05-14-2008 03:48 AM

I just listened, there is no unusual effect or tone going on here. It's probably a lace sensor strat accounting for the unusual bell like tone of the guitar. It's set clean and back on the neck pickup I think with a little bit of reverb. Add acoustic chords for full effect.

SlingeroGuitaro 05-14-2008 04:18 AM

could be a lace sensor, but i think it sounds more like a p-90. to me sounds a lot like the 'another brick in the wall' solo tone.

also sounds like there is some tremelo effect from an old vox amp along with reverb

pumpkinxyu 05-14-2008 06:05 PM

while we're here, the little billy breath at 7:10 is one of my favorite moments on the album.

The last audible guitar feedback on Ruby is always a joy to catch. That song is pure magic.

muzzled4life 05-14-2008 08:56 PM

also while we're here, that guitar sound ath the end of through the eyes of ruby is (for some reason) one of my favorite parts of that albulm..theres something haunting about it that I like, eery. It reminds me of sweet agony, not the song per say.

my general policy is not to jump on every typo or misspelling i see, only the ones which have been repeated across multiple postings in a thread, though i will make occasional exceptions, as for butchered latin phrases. furthermore, eery is an accepted variant.

Mellencollie guitars... what a well tracked album - well recorded, great takes. Sure there is the clipping thing, but everything still sounds great.
