Moving is the worst

I would give up a fucking kidney to stay where we are now. About to drop off a rental app for a place that is smaller and has less outdoor space and you have to go outside to get to coin operated laundry that is more expensive than what we are paying now.

sigh.

i never thought i'd say this, but i think i might start thinking about buying something.

and let's not forget about the actual process of moving. which i didn't think i'd have to do again for a while. fuuuuuucccckkkkkkk

Eulogy 05-10-2014 02:17 PM

that was a poorly worded sentence, jesus

the laundry is not more expensive than my current rent

reprise85 05-10-2014 02:21 PM

moving does suck. sorry.

Eulogy 05-10-2014 02:28 PM

i just love this apartment so much :(

Eulogy 05-10-2014 02:28 PM

and of course this happens right as work is getting fucking insane

i hate everything

Bread Regal 05-10-2014 02:29 PM

why do you have to move?

Order 66 05-10-2014 02:30 PM

last year when i moved i was homesick for a long time. i.. don't know why. the last apartment was a total shithole. some kind of feng shui thing i guess, throwing off my energies or something

signed a one year lease june of last year. the landlord is actually moving back into this apartment.

he was all "sorry you guys were great tenants" and i understand he has to do what he has to do (selling his current house to help save money for his wedding and stuff) but godDAMN i want to stayyyyyyyyyyy

i am contemplating asking him what we would have to pay in rent to help him save the kind of money he needs to save but i can't imagine that's realistic.

Eulogy 05-10-2014 02:38 PM

the location of the place we just looked at is actually mind-blowingly awesome. but it's not worth the other trade-offs. but i'm thinking it's the best we'll get. we've only looked at three places so far, but i'm pretty familiar with what you can get in this neighborhood.

Eulogy 05-10-2014 02:40 PM

i also got really used to like... the paint color in the living room here. i guess we could probably just paint the new place maybe. i don't know. fuck.

Bread Regal 05-10-2014 02:41 PM

i never use on-site coin op laundry because it increases the probability i will have to interact with my neighbors. plus, the place that i go to is 24 hours and has free wifi so i can just browse reddit for two hours while my clothes get washed in industrial washers and dryers.

Bread Regal 05-10-2014 02:43 PM

you said you might consider buying. why not ask him to throw a number at you? couldn't hurt.

i would have to do some legwork to come up with a down payment. but i guess you're right, it can't hurt. hm. i actually don't even have his contact info. caine walker dealt with him because i was still in DC when we got it (i was the one who decided we neeeded to pounce on the listing though!).

and then we would be landlords for the people upstairs and i don't think i wanna have to deal with all that shit.

but you're right. it can't hurt to ask and explore options.

i want someone to open a laundromat/bar in the area.

but man, after this winter i was really hoping to find something with in unit w/d. can't be too picky though : /

reprise85 05-10-2014 02:57 PM

my rent just went up $50. still a steal at $500/mo. they'd have to really fuck with me to get me to move. been here almost two years and will stay here as long as i'm in school if they will have me. the year before i moved in i had to move 4 times. fuck that.

good luck eulogy, maybe you'll find something super awesome.

Bread Regal 05-10-2014 02:58 PM

there used to be a laundromat here with billiard tables. what an idea.

i mean what i found is actually pretty awesome. and if i didn't live where i live now i'd be over the moon about it.

if i just focus on the location i'll be happy about it. i'm pretty sure we were the first ones to look at it. and i'm gonna go drop off the rental app right now. so i'm thinking if we want it we can get it.

we're also looking at a place on tuesday that's smaller and cheaper and in a very similar location. and if we're serious about looking to buy it might be a fine stop gap. we'll see.

slunken 05-10-2014 03:05 PM

there used to be a semi-famous laundromat/bar/venue in cincy called sudsy malones. they hosted bands like modest mouse and white stripes in their early days. if you brought your laundry there was no cover and you got two free drinks. deal of a lifetime.

edit: i think the pumpkins played there too

slunken 05-10-2014 03:06 PM

they were open as a regular laundromat and bar when a show wasn't going on but naturally you would wait until a show to do your laundry. before they shut their doors it was mostly metal acts though.

MusicMan4 05-10-2014 03:12 PM

cool

MusicMan4 05-10-2014 03:15 PM

i'm watching this whole thing because it's awesome but i'm really hoping for shots of the crowd doing their laundry in the background

slunken 05-10-2014 03:21 PM

the stage was up by the front door so the stage background was the windows looking out into the street.

if you were on stage the bar was on the left wall, front door on the right side. small (maybe 20 square feet) audience room and then the rest of the place was about 4 or 5 rows of washing machines with the entire back wall of industrial dryers. the bathrooms were back there too.

slunken 05-10-2014 03:22 PM

screencap it if you find some wandering camera shots showing this

Bread Regal 05-10-2014 03:27 PM

i played a hair salon/diy venue in tampa a few times.

slunken 05-10-2014 03:28 PM

i'm bad at describing so i just made a quick sketch - the place was full of those neat shopping cart type laundry pushers too

MusicMan4 05-10-2014 03:29 PM

up until the point they were like hey buddy lose the dreads it's bad for business

MusicMan4 05-10-2014 03:34 PM

haha

i have the next 3-4 issues already mapped out - just don't have enough time/too lazy to actually execute them. plus i still have a visible pile of 20-30 issue #1's still sitting here that don't exactly inspire me to make more. maybe i should hide them.

sneak peak: issue two is all about sneaking up on people

slunken 05-10-2014 03:38 PM

issue 3 is about crime-fighting like a superhero would with all the gusto but with real world consequences
