Joy Formidable - AAARTH

Much better than the last release. I like it quite a bit. Does anyone have thoughts

redbreegull 10-04-2018 01:23 AM

I was pretty bored until the chorus of track 2 came in. I was about to stop listening, but let's see where this takes us

redbreegull 10-04-2018 01:45 AM

I really loved about half the songs on the first LP, but I thought the 2nd one sucked so I never listened further.

Eulogy 10-04-2018 07:20 AM

I can see that but I loved that one too. Cholla and leopard and the lung are jamz

Same. I’ll check out this new one though

I can't remember if it was their first EP or their first LP that I listened to a few years ago, but I remember trying to get into it because everyone was talking about how good they are, but I just found it kinda boring.

Sounded like shoegaze for people who like radio alt-rock like The Black Keys and Jack White.

What the he'll kind of title is that

Disco King 10-04-2018 04:16 PM

"Hey, what do you want our next album to be called?"

*Gets stung by bee*

Listened to this a while ago and Y Bluen Eira has burned itself into my brain. What a song.

Oh, I didn't participate in this thread already? Yeah, AARP was a fine album. It wasn't anything on par with The Big Roar, which felt like a breath of fresh air back in its time, but definitely better than the album they put out four or five years ago, the name of which I can't even remember because it still bores me to tears to think about.

FlamingGlobes 05-23-2020 10:42 AM

I saw them live when they were pushing The Big Roar (opening for Foo Fighters, haters gon' hate) and man, they drowned that arena in sound like nobody's business.

Eulogy 05-27-2020 02:46 PM

I’ve seen them.... many times. Hitch is the album that is not very good. Wolf’s Law is real good though.

FlamingGlobes 05-27-2020 02:52 PM

Yes, I liked Wolf's Law just fine. Hitch was so, so dull. Reminds me of that Metric album that came out at the same time. Neither had anything interesting going on musically.

FlamingGlobes 05-27-2020 02:53 PM

Basically, those albums are the alt-rock equivalent of Took's posting history.

FoolofaTook 05-27-2020 04:53 PM

You're saying my posts have nothing interesting going on musically?

FlamingGlobes 05-27-2020 06:18 PM

Nothing going on...at all!

FlamingGlobes 05-27-2020 06:18 PM

GOT 'IM!

FlamingGlobes 05-27-2020 06:19 PM
