I just wasted $1,280

So this was going to be the year I invest in a new mattress and box springs. It's been a long time coming. After shopping several places, I finally narrowed it down to one. I spent a lot of time checking it out. I laid on it for several minutes.... checked out other beds and kept coming back to that one. It was perfect. So I order it and wait for them to deliver it. Got it all set up, laid on it and it feels nothing like the bed I picked out. It feels like I'm laying on a board. If someone were to pour water on my face I'd believe I was in Gitmo.

----- don't tl;dr yet------

It's the same name, brand, style, whatever... but the mattress can't possibly be the same thing I laid on in the showroom. Last night's sleep was total hell. I bought a memory foam thing to put on top of it, but it's still too damn hard. smfh

Yesterday afternoon I call the store and speak with the manager... and he said he would return it for a $150.00 restocking fee. They will not drive here to pick it up, so it's my responsibility to find a truck, load it up, and drive it to them myself. So on top of the restocking fee, gas money.

Someone please tell me I'm not the only fool who has bought a mattress, got it home and hated it.

I think what happened is.... they put the really nice mattress on the showroom floor. Then you order it and they send the bargain basement version to you. these stupid fucks :(

Cool As Ice Cream 03-06-2014 05:43 AM

surely the one in the showroom should be the same one you receive? they can't put an expensive mattress there and then sell a cheap bargain basement version. that would be illegal.

the only thing i can think of is that one brand and type of mattress does often come in a couple of categories of hardness. was the hardness specified when you ordered yours?
in that scenario, i guess you got the hardest one, and the matress in the showroom may have been medium or soft.

Starla 03-06-2014 05:44 AM

No it was not indicated on any of my papers or labels. They claim that they ordered the same one I chose. I just wonder if they made a mistake.

Starla 03-06-2014 05:46 AM

I have really bad insomnia. I sleep maybe 2 -3 hours a day most days. After having a sleep study done, one of the suggestions was a new bed. So here I am, still awake with shitty bed. lol

Starla 03-06-2014 05:47 AM

life is so funny

Cool As Ice Cream 03-06-2014 05:50 AM

it's possible that they did.
the mattress you got, does it have a label with brand and type? does this match what you bought?
does it also mention hardness, maybe shortened ("H" instead of "hard")? if you could find this, you could get back to them and mention that they probably gave you the wrong kind, that doesn't match the mattress you tried in the shop.

what's also possible is that the combination of mattress + what's underneath it doesn't match. it's not unlikely they use super comfortable stuff in the showroom, but if you put the same mattress on something else, it's different.

Starla 03-06-2014 05:53 AM

There's nothing indicating hardness on the tag attached to the mattress, but you might be right about the box spring. It may not be the same one. hmm

Cool As Ice Cream 03-06-2014 05:55 AM

i'm sorry about your mattress and sleep problems. that sucks.

you might get used to the new mattress?

yo soy el mejor 03-06-2014 07:37 AM

Future Boy 03-06-2014 09:36 AM

sppunk 03-06-2014 09:54 AM

embarassed to admit but i've never bought my own matress before.. sort of surprised its that expensive. but it makes sense i guess

reprise85 03-06-2014 02:40 PM

That sucks, Starla. What if you bring it there and prove it's not the same (make them feel it)?

Trotskilicious 03-06-2014 03:43 PM

starla, you know what you have to do

YOU HAVE TO YELL
AND STAMP YOUR FEET
AND TALK ABOUT LAWYERS
ACT ENTITLED
"I'M A PAYING CUSTOMER"
"I HAVE NEVER EXPERIENCED A THING LIKE THIS"
"I WILL TELL EVERYONE ON FACEBOOK"
AND YELL SOME MORE

and they'll take that "restocking fee" and stick it up their ass

hnibos 03-06-2014 05:26 PM

^ throw in some crazy eyes and you're good to go.

Order 66 03-06-2014 06:09 PM

in defense of restocking fees.. you operate at a pretty big loss when customers return things they specifically ask for.. which happens an awful lot so it takes a big hit to profit margins. not saying that starls didnt get jewed though

Trotskilicious 03-06-2014 06:55 PM

fuck you, bourgeois pig

don't bother with memory foam. my friend had a memory foam bed (shared with his girlfriend) and after a couple of years his side was about 4 inches lower than hers. he was heavy but i'm sure that just degraded it more quickly, it'd happen soon enough for any adult i'd bet.

sickbadthing 03-06-2014 08:17 PM

Starla did you gain 100+ lbs since you bought the bed? Chances are you might be too fat for a bed

har har hardy har but seriously i would probably eat a bullet if i had insomnia like you do. it makes me insane and depressed.

sickbadthing 03-06-2014 09:02 PM

also everyone knows the best kind of bed to buy is a used one that someone died in becuase WHEN PEOPLE DIE IN BED, THE BED CAPTURES THEIR SOULS. and then you fart at night on BED GHOSTS

Banana 03-06-2014 09:05 PM

Yeah but when they die they release shit and piss.
