ZG, posting in soon to be epic thread
There are really only 2 kinds of people in this world.
a) zeitgeist
b) yes, even just the plain ol' standard album red one c) i applaud you for this pole! |
Oceania because I was already let down by ZG and irreparably marred by TGBK so it couldn't hurt me anymore. Plus I think it's funny to hear Mikey drumming like a toy soldier.
i'm sorry, funny?
you think this shit is a fucking joke??? |
you think The Smashing Pumpkins, conduit of the most pure & holy of bald virtues, is a fucking GOOF fest?
always have, Mals! they just used to release good music, too
I hate this poll, I hate you, I hate myself, that one quiet part of Tarantula fucks.
as real as any ghost

WE We we we we we we we we we we we we
are starz WE AReeeee |
1. Zeitgeist has better written songs
2. But for some reason, Oceania has a couple songs that I keep coming back to listen to (some of the only SP2/SP3) songs that I actually listen to.. Pinwheels and Oceania. Gossamer is my favorite SP2/SP3 song. Too bad there's not a studio recording anywhere. |
I would listen to a Oceania EP if it were rerecorded with Jimmy, but not if it were produced by Rick Rubin.
I can stomach a relisten of Oash, but cannot with ZG. That album literally broke me. There are better elements on it without a doubt, but the Billy Choir is acutely nauseating and the good parts don't add up to a quality finished product, like anywhere. The Celestials is a song I can at least frequently enjoy, but there's NONE on ZG proper that I feel that way about. But Mike is so bad.
They are like opposite ends of a terrible spectrum. Overly aggressive, but technically precise, cock rock image (with the audacity to use the SP moniker) vs lyrically bland, musically forgettable, but occasionally evocative wood nymph image (with the audacity to use the SP moniker).
Oceania would be better than ZG if it had Jimmy
When the once most hated Pumpkins album looks like a masterpiece compared to what came next...
weren't dickweeds back in the day calling it better than Adore/Machina?
those guys... those were not my kinda guys
I am sure it is just me, but they are the same album to me (in terms of song structure and sequence)
Quasar = Doomsday Clock Panopticon = 7 Shades of Black The Celestial = Bleeding the Orchid (Violet Rays = Ma Belle) My Love is Winter = That's The way my love is One Diamond = Death From Above Pinwheels = Stellar Oceania = United States Pale Horse = Neverlost Chimera = Come on Let's Go Glissandra = For God and Country Inkless = Hummer .. uhm, Bring the Light Wildflower = Pomp and Circumstances I mean, they are not clearly the same songs, but the mood of the song-sequence sounds to me like they are both very similar... (actually If you combine them, it could come out a decent album... maybe ) |

yeah it was about a year after i bought shitegeist (i was hella excited when it dropped, acted super into it) that i realized that the pumpkins sucked and everything post machina ii was more or less garbage.
those were dark days, dark days indeed. |
i listened to oceania once, high as fuck. i made it half of the way through then turned it off because it was harshing my mellow.
so when are you going to tell me about my archetype?
