What SP landmarks should I visit while in Chicago ?

I have a friend working in Chicago and he would like to visit sp landmarks in the area. We were only able to find a short list in SPFC.org but half of the places are closed for good.

Do you guys have any other suggestions? Cheers!

metro would be a good spot to visit

I've only been to Metro and Vic's Drum Shop but those are really the only ones I think'd qualify. there aren't really any iconic physical landmarks related to a sonic institution

Under the Van Buren street bridge...that’s where Jimmy and then Darcy used to buy their heroin.....oh and then the Rite Aid on Garden street... that’s where Billy bought his shaving cream when he shaved his head....that’s about it for the highlights...

Buy a Chicago Tribune, that's where he wanted his old band back.

you could go to any random piss alley and pretend that you're standing right in the spot where JC scored some H before he got fucked up and went to band practice

Billy’s old purple Victorian where he wrote Mellon collie adore machina, did all the demos, etc etc

Heroin jokes are pretty lame btw.

South Side is pretty cool. The heritage area of the city.

There is their old rehearsal space that they leased called Pumpkinland. On N. Elston St, I can't find a thread with the address, but some googling should yield results.

A piece of the gold coast.

I’ve lived near elston for six years and have been frequenting the area for over ten and have no idea what this pumpkin land place is.

Skip pumpkins stuff and go to the photo booth at rainbo where Liz phair took pictures that became the guyville cover.

Fireside Bowl is featured in the rise against swing life away video and I guess alkaline trio played there a lot early on? Or something?

There aren’t really any pumpkins landmarks I know of.

Yeah, OK Jerry Seinfeld...

Q: Who makes more money a heroin dealer or a prostitute?
A: A prostitute, because she can always wash her crack, and sell it again!

Q: Why did heroin addict drink brake fluid?
A: So he could stop anytime!

Those jokes were definitely not lame

My post gives the game away. Is there a reason I should delete it?

that place they filmed the Today video near. you know, in the beginning of the vid. someone made a thread pinpointing it's exact location, it was in Chicago right?

Mals Marola 08-21-2019 10:47 AM

apparently that's in Taft, CA

i apologize gravely for misleading you in my previous post, hopefully there is something i can do to make it up, but if not, i'm sure we'll both move on and be just fine

Walk by Bills old house during SD-Machina era. I walked by last December. It was for sale and empty. The bay window where the piano was was fully lit up at night so you could see the interior.

It's also a 5 minute walk from Chicago Music Exchange, one of the best music stores I've ever been to. If thats your thing...

If you scour vacant lots next to highways you might find an obelisk
