do you even own a stereo system?

gonna need a speaker diameter size from you

I listened to "United States" the other day, and it's a good track, even if the vocals could be better.
I don't think I want to listen to the album beginning-to-end, though. Maybe just put on one of the better tracks every now and then between listening to other stuff. |
zeitgeist sucks pretty hard but I do kinda love it
|
I liked Zeitgeist when it came out. When I put it on in recent years I hear the crappy production.. but in general it's not bad.
The live version of God and Country is good.. the album version sucks. Gossamer is the best song of SP2 and it should have been on this album but it wasn't.. how dumb. let me think what other notes about this album.. Starz is trash Zeigeist as a whole is 50x stronger than Shitty and So Bright. |
starz is good
so is neverlost and all the b-sides and pomp some of the rest are alright |
It shreds...your speakers with that crazy ass DR level
|
pomp live is a masterpiece
|
I don't mind "Starz." It's not amazing or deep, but it's catchy.
I actually like the album version of "For God and Country." @ Me. "Neverlost" is a top-tier SP2 song. One of the few that can stand up to SP1 material. |
Damn, Zeitgeist was the best SP2 was ever going to get, wasn't it?
|
I had been a fan for a while when Zeitgeist came around, but it was the first time I had a chance to see them live. In a strange way it felt like the band was finally "my" band more so than watching them on MTV as a young child. I don't really see the album in a nostalgic way yet. It just freakin' rocks my socks off. I wish they would have came back with a double album and took it over the top with a sixteen minute Gossamer. The material is very strong, but there is tons of truth in the fact that the production/mixing is rough.
|
It's the best thing out of SP2.0

Gotta say the live experience with those songs and Gossamer were stellar, so to speak.
|
Looking solely at the studio version:
-Tarantula was a good single that excels in spite of the production. -Neverlost may be the best song Billy's released post SP-1 -Starz and (Come On) Let's Go aren't particularly memorable, but as the OP said, show the fun that can result when you just have Billy and Jimmy rock the fuck out. -United States and Doomsday Clock could be amazing if Billy didn't sound like he just woke up from a nap. |
Stellar and Neverlost were good.
Everything else blows megalothonal dongs. |
Tarantula is a banger and that little breakdown is the only time Corg’s ever had that SP1 dreaminess post 2000. He also managed to get his vocals right on it. But that 15 seconds is the best thing to come out of SP2, period. Even nails the breathy vocals
Doomsday Clock could’ve been great if he would’ve screamed instead of pussing out in the bridge. Same goes for United States Album blows |
Only great song from this era is the song Zeitgeist which was bizarrely only on the purple target version (not even on the Best Buy silver edition which collected all the stray tracks).
Other than that I may occasionally revisit Starz, Stellar, United States, and Death from Above Everything else is pretty much a disaster of production, vocal performance, and songwriting to a degree Ugh I get depressed thinking about this era. So much promise. There were some cool tracks from the live shows that never got recorded properly. |
I thought neverlost was one of the weakest songs on the album. A skipper.

zeitgeist rules
heaviest album |

Zeitgeist is annoying
|
I like it, mostly.
|
I liked Zeitgeist, I thought it rocked for the most part. Live shows around the time were great too. The Billy choir was a little annoying but if that was the worst his vocal delivery was going to get, I'd have taken it. I'd rather that than the viIiIbraAaAtoOoO and dropped consonants.
