new fuckin radiohead record due in June

i will piss on radiohead!

http://consequenceofsound.net/2016/0...ve-ever-heard/

that description is a bit of a red flag for me though - i hope it's not going to be a record that only aims to be weird, bleepy and incoherent. still though, super fucking excited for this

hnibos 04-15-2016 07:37 AM

Pissing on something you're excited about sure is a strange reaction.

Not for animals

Cool As Ice Cream 04-15-2016 08:09 AM

i will also piss on radiohead.

Disco King 04-15-2016 08:51 AM

I wonder if this is gonna be some sort of Hooverphomic-type orchestral rock.

duovamp 04-15-2016 09:00 AM

I hope it has songs where Thom is like "Ooooooooooooooooooaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaauuuuuuuuuoooooo oooooooooo"

Elphenor 04-15-2016 09:21 AM

I hope it's super bleep bloody and it gets rave reviews and classic rockers feel insecure about their tastes once again

Johnny Greenwood said something about how they relearned to play as a band for this album or something to that end, and that they had been working on "limiting" themselves. whatever that means

I'm hoping for something that leans more towards In Rainbows than bleep bleep bloop bloop. I wasn't that into King of Limbs

Elphenor 04-15-2016 10:17 AM

I just want something that's different

Not like "never heard before!" but just Radiohead exploring some new territory

Elphenor 04-15-2016 10:19 AM

Or I mean I'd be okay if they just literally made "Kid A 2" with that title and everything

slunken 04-15-2016 11:20 AM

What's pretentious about folk music other than the fact that you don't understand it?

slunken 04-15-2016 11:25 AM

Rajasthan Express is the band, ben tzur is the composer, and greenwood produced it.

I think you're giving radiohead a little too much credit, as if johnny greenwood invented this or something.

slunken 04-15-2016 11:30 AM

Fair enough - but yea it will give a lot of exposure to the project. You know how some idiot fans of bands will buy anything.

Rairun 04-15-2016 12:01 PM

I have tickets for one of the Roundhouse (1,700 capacity) shows in May. :D I hope the album is good.

i just watched Junun the other day actually. in parts.
It kinda blew my mind how random it is for some israeli stoner guy making indian music in India (there are plenty of those guys fwiw) to be able too hook up with Johnny Greenwood and Paul Thomas Anderson.

I like all Radiohead material so far, so I don't care if it's bleep-bloopier than ever, or a return to '90s alt rock (so long as it doesn't sound like Pablo Honey or something). But if they're talking about an orchestra, I'm thinking it might either be "Spectre"-esque big-band-ish stuff, or maybe sorta symphonic-electronic rock or something.

I think I've heard that the last album was mostly Yorke? Maybe that's what Greenwood means by this being more of a band effort.

FoolofaTook 04-15-2016 07:15 PM

bleep bloop? are you refering to kid a/amnesiac style stuff?

cos there are many words that come to mind when one seeks to define this sound (such as senescence or visceralitude) but none, i repeat NONE of these words is bleep bloop.

motherfucker.

Disco King 04-15-2016 07:55 PM

I hear they are releasing a box set called "Radiohead: The Bleep Bloop Years." It has a lot of outtakes of bleeps and bloops that didn't make it into the final songs.

Disco King 04-15-2016 07:57 PM

Outtake from "Treefingers"
