Beach Boys always does the job.

I've actually been listening to these super pop-punk guys a lot lately. It's like the most bubbly, upbeat shit ever... Fun when in the mood out during the summer

The song has some brilliant guitar interplay during the chorus. Almost sounds Siamese Dream like in a way

The drummer in New Found Glory is great too. I think it's just the guys annoying voice that many people can't get past.

But if you ask me it's New Found Glory>>> Blink 182 any day.

CHVRCHES and Charly Bliss are my go-to serotonin bands. If i'm feeling particularly good Beach Slang hits the spot too.

Deerhoof. One of my all time favourites, super prolific. Especially the last 10 or so albums (lol) are uplifting.

redbreegull 06-05-2018 09:20 PM

I suggest you listen to a lot of Grimes

Sonic Johnny 06-05-2018 11:01 PM

Abba!!

wHATcOLOR 06-06-2018 01:55 AM

its really an unsolvable problem i guess. what works atn one time doesn't work at another time (which is somehow even worse), what works for someone doesn't work for someone else.. just gotta grind through it i guess. thanks folks

noyen 06-06-2018 02:00 AM

make a boner jams summer 2018 get lucky pharrel ultimate playlist with nonstop party hits or exersize music. I made one for a friend once after his mother passed and he said it helped I could post it.

noyen 06-06-2018 02:00 AM

also I think it's a solvable problem man hang in there

wHATcOLOR 06-06-2018 02:45 AM

i meant to say it's not a problem that you can solve in a reliable, repeatable, systematic way. (for the reasons i put above). you basically gotta try a bunch of shit and maybe if you're lucky something will hit just right at that particular time. assuming you have the willpower to bother trying a bunch of shit.

but thanks, i'm cool, this'll pass eventually like it always does

I think I understand you... that's really the lesson I have learned in the time I've spent seeing a psychiatrist, psychologist and just the experience is that battling and treating depression, a mood, anxiety, a bad spell of life is that you have to start doing things. it's literally work. the only person who can do it, is you. it's a hard realization especially when you have no control sometimes and it literally make take someone saving you. getting out in the sun. interacting with people. exersizing. talking about it. trying to be positive. it's the only way to actually get through things. you gotta seek out that happy music because you won't know you found it until you keep looking for the thing that works.

I am struggling with finding a good song right now too.

wHATcOLOR 06-07-2018 02:48 AM

i feel ya.

for me lately, this is the song that actually felt pretty nice

got that sweet riff, cool guitars and some layers, dude's voice is kinda like a less intense axl rose.. im feeling it

wHATcOLOR 06-07-2018 03:03 AM

its all so mood dependent, and dependent on other things as well that are harder to identify

sometimes andrew wk's latest is life affirming. sometimes it's obnoxious and tiring.

sometimes certain songs from the streets are like a soothing balm. sometimes it's too on the nose and feels trite

good to have a good arsenal to pull from i guess. but as you say, the real point is you just gotta do the work, and it's more than just listening to some songs. i'm doing well on the work part lately actually. a song that hits just right can be a nice tailwind that kind of pulls everything together and facilitates a deeper sense of appreciation for it all, and for some reason failing on that front felt like a huge headwind but it needn't.

Andrew WK is an amazing human being.

His podcast America WK is some real zen master stuff.

Sorry you're going through this shit, wHATcOLOR

This one never fails to get me moving, even if it's, like, halfhearted shambling

topleybird 06-21-2018 08:31 PM

Thought of this one for you today; I think it's cued up right but skip to 0:18 seconds if it starts from the beginning
