New Butch Vig Rumor

Hello,
Don't turn this into a hatefest as I'm sure it will, but I heard that on late night or some late night talk show Sherley (not garbage fan, don't know spelling) accidentally spilled that Butch is going to produce some tracks for billy and jimmy. Maybe someone could find a video of her saying this... like is said, this is a rumor, but I feel it is worth investigating, as my source is sincere and honest as well as a huge pumpkins fan.

So you didn't even see this, you just heard it from someone else claiming to have seen it?

Floppy Nono 01-04-2009 05:05 AM

i think the talkshows put some stuff on their site, perhaps it will be on

One can hope

carapatricia 01-04-2009 05:12 AM

thatd be interesting if BC went back to Butch. Was SD the last thing he produced for SP?
if thats true, then BC must have listened to SD and Zeitgeist backtoback. ;)

I know hes producing the new Green Day thats coming out this year..

thanks for the tip, i'm definitly going to look into it.

flyfire 01-04-2009 05:21 AM

^ wasn't she the first to spill the beans that he was producing greenday

hm.

i just checked wikipedia (don't start) and it said
"Shirley Manson, lead singer of Garbage, revealed in Carson Daly interview that Vig will be producing the as-yet-untitled 8th studio album by Green Day."

SpeedofSound, check with your friend to make sure he didnt mean Green Day, cause im not finding anything about SP on the web at all.

SpeedOfSound 01-04-2009 05:23 AM

Yes, I'm trying to find some information about Shirley being on a late night but no luck yet. However, this rumor makes you think because I remember billy in an interview saying they originally intended on Zeitgeist being "Siamese Dream 2". This guy was also talking about her stating that Butch was also going to do the new green day.

this is going to open a whole different can of worms:(

SpeedOfSound 01-04-2009 05:32 AM

So we narrowed it down to the Carson Daily show (nowonder I didn't see it... blech.) Now is all we need to find to determine the validity is the entire clip of her on the show. I saw a short clip of her stating Butch for the new green day is all.

McCollum 01-04-2009 06:21 AM

I saw the interview when i was stuck at my parents house over the holiday break. She mentioned that Garbage is on hold because they are all doing their own things. She's acting, Butch is producing, etc. She did say that Butch was doing the new Green Day album. Carson brought up the fact that Butch had done a lot of famous albums such as Nevermind and Siamese Dream. No where in the interview does Carson or Shirley say that Butch is producing new SP material or material with billy and/or jimmy.

Your friend is a liar and incapable of relaying information when viewed right in front of his face. Actually he may need to go to a doctor and get checked out. If he can't watch a tv interview and interpret what is actually being said and what is going on then there may be brain issues to contend with.

delete thread. i solved the mystery in my previous post.

Stop, it's a booby trap
Wouldn't you rather have a Digi or a Scooby Snack?

Digi Snack, YEAH,

T&T 01-04-2009 12:04 PM

is the new green day album gonna be siamese dream 3?

RenewRevive 01-04-2009 01:29 PM

butch produced the last jimmy eat world album, which was no great shakes; haven't listened to it in awhile so couldn't tell you if it was the production or the writing.

gut feeling is billy wouldn't work with Vig again anyhow.

Gish08 01-04-2009 01:37 PM

I sure as hell hope the Pumpkins don't work with Vig again. Everything he has produced after the mid/late 90's has sucked ass for the most part (which explains why he is working with Green Day). Dude has lost touch. Vig just chills in his "studio" with an oversized macbook and acts like he's still unique.

He sure was awesome back in the Siamese era and shortly after that with the Garbage stuff.

Forgotten Child 01-04-2009 01:39 PM

Maybe they are remastering some Gish songs?

Gish08 01-04-2009 01:40 PM

Why the hell would they do that?

Forgotten Child 01-04-2009 01:42 PM

Gish Box?

Gish08 01-04-2009 01:44 PM

Billy doesn't need Vig for that, he can remaster that shit himself. He basically did produce Gish, with Vig aiding him, and then taking that sound and applying it to overrated Nirvana shit, but that's a whole other topic.

redbull 01-04-2009 02:32 PM

Gish Chat

Electron52 01-04-2009 02:43 PM

Gish & Nevermind sound nothing a like...

nevermind sounds nothing like gish.

Killdozer on the other hand.

edit to add:
Twelve Point Buck was the album that brought Butch Vig to the attention of Kurt Cobain and Billy Corgan

carapatricia 01-04-2009 05:38 PM

Does any other band Vig has produced use the Soma 40-guitar track layering technique?

i wouldn't really call it a "technique", it's just epic overdubbing

so... yes, probably

Pizza Club 01-04-2009 06:40 PM

I don't think he'd go backwards like this.

markpregen 01-04-2009 06:58 PM

Didn't the White Stripes do a whole week on Conan?

IWishIWasBlank 01-04-2009 11:28 PM

Whole year, I think it was.
