The home recorded Twin Fantasy and How to Leave Town are contemporary masterpieces. Teens of Style and Teens of Denial have some really great stuff on them.

I was disappointed to learn Will rerecorded Twin Fantasy before the release this year and even more disappointed when I heard it because it sounds like a Disney record. I thought the production might be something similar to Teens of Denial but instead it's way more poppy and glossed over. Other Matador records sound great - the new GBV and Malkmus records are solid on the production side. A lot of people really like the new Twin Fantasy though, especially younger folks.

Last year I saw the band live when Will was still playing guitar at shows, and it fucking killed. But this new incarnation of the band is super weak. It sort of seems like he is actually trying to shed fans of his older recordings.
